I'm sure that he is interested in the on-line course and they do have a branch office here on the base - so it is always good to be able to walk into the office and lay eyes on a person.
I hear he is on-line now so hopefully he'll take over this topic and ask specific questions. Thanks for all the advice though - I've been forwarding it along.

From Delta's website: Delta - Pilot Basics

General Requirements
At least 21 years of age
Graduate of a four-year degree program from a college or university accredited by a recognized accredited organization
Degrees obtained from a non-U.S. institution must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. degrees by a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
Postgraduate education will be given favorable consideration.
Current passport or other travel documents enabling the bearer to freely exit and re-enter the U.S. (multiple reentry status) and be legally eligible to work in the U.S. (possess proper working documents)

I would think that a Masters degree would be a worthwhile investment. Hopefully this never happens, but if you have a heart attack or something else unfavorable crosses your path you have another avenue to go to in aviation. With a masters in aviation management and etc. you could go management, become a teacher at a university or flight school, and probably much more. I like Embry because their online programs do not require you to go into a classroom and you can knock out some homework on overnights.
