Hawaiian Interview
I interviewed at Hawaiian in late July and never heard a yes or a no. My family is in Hawaii and I had recommendations, however I have never worked in Hawaii which probably was not in my favor. The interview seemed to go excellent, and it has been a goal in life to work for Hawaiian. I am a little discouraged to be left hanging. I know some people were called for second interviews and put into a pool for future hiring. My question for anyone in the know is have I been turned down by Hawaiian Airlines, or am I on some list to be called sometime in the future. If so, what can I possible do to keep on the Hawaiian Radar. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Barrell Rider

I'd write the airline, attention someone from the interview (You did get someones name in HR). Let them know that you haven't heard anything and offer to update your qualifications and/or reapply.
If you had an internal recommendation, I'd ask them to ask for you.
I had an airline send a letter offering employment to an old address. I didn't find out for months and after I had gone to another carrier.

I would also use the letter to update your address showing a Hawaii residence. As much as I want to return home to Hawaii...I wouldn't work for Hawaiian (too unstable - Go! ruining people's lives on the cheap).

Hawaiian is in excellent shape-making record profits, high and growing load factors and new equipment on the way. Hiring will continues next year and on. Go is really not hurting and actually a good thing since it tends to keep other airlines out.

Jonnyjet is right on the money here - follow up with the person who invited you to the interview. It may be very simply that you slipped through the cracks. I hate to say that, but it does happen. Perhaps they emailed you and it went to spam... who knows. Be humble and unassuming. If you do know someone on the inside it may be a faster response. But contact them - they may be wondering what happened to you as well... Good luck.

Hawaiian is a tough one.. they tend to over-interview... they commonly interview hundreds of pilots and only take 15 or so in a couple classes... They have an unprofessional habit of not sending out yes or no letters too. I have a feeling that their HR folks are just trying to keep themselves busy to stay employed. I know many people that have interviewed there only to be left hanging for literally years! Don't hold your breath.
