Degree Requirement
Ms. Clark,
I was curious as to which legacy carriers require, with no exception, four year college degrees? My current understanding is that most do, but which ones in particular put more emphasis on this as a requirement? And if it isn't too much trouble, which LCC's place more emphasis on a four year college degree as a requirement? If anyone else would like to answer this question for regional carriers as well it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Even the ones that don't require a 4-year degree place a lot of emphasis on it unless you are a legacy or an affirmative action ticket-holder.
SWA requires a 2-year degree last time I checked but a 4-year is better.

I don't know where or how this kind of data would be collected but Compass Airlines is currently the only regional that requires a 4 year college degree.

Thanks Rick and Gajre,
I was just curious as to which ones in particular really harped on it. I once heard that there were one or two that put less emphasis on the requirement. I have a BA in a non aviation related field.

Wish I could rub my crystal ball and come up with an answer, but I can't. It simply takes researching each of the airlines to find that information. A four-year degree is valued by ANY airline, even if it's not required. Keep in mind that airlines can change their degree requirements on a whim so it would behoove anyone to get the advanced education. Plus, as there have been many other threads on this topic, it may give you a fall-back in case something happens with your flying career. May I ask why you are inquiring about this statistic?
