What constitutes a reduced upgrade time at AE?

2005 hires in the left seat!

Similar to, say, ExpressJet.

I believe you did indeed make an error on the application. It's my understanding that applies to a pilots or driver's license and not denial of a medical certificate. If you currently hold a valid 1st class medical certificate and have never had your pilots or drivers license suspended or revoked, they should give you another look and at the very least remove the six-month restriction on reapplication.

I agree.. i hope there is someway to remove that 6 month wait. I just don't know how to do so. I sent an email to HR, but you all know that it will prob just get deleted. Any numbers I can call? I dont want to be annoying, but I goofed and need to fix it.

From 10 to what looks like approaching 4 years, last vacancy had Nov 2005 upgrades I believe. Embraer 145, CRJ700 and ATR are all under 6 years now.

Well as ex-AE, I can say that AE is a great place to be ...... FROM. I would suppose that reduced upgrade equals 9 to 10 years.

If you really like to fly with grumpy old farts that are bitter 'cause they didn't get hired at United in the 80s, then AE ORD is the place for you.

<Disclaimer: Only about 40% of the guys I flew with were grumpy old farts /Disclaimer>

The TWA and Flow-back guys were awesome to fly with and offered up a lot of experience.

FWIW, you are probably better off. Soon you will get an opportunity to go elsewhere.

I agree. We are about to see another surge in hiring. In fact we ARE seeing it. Keep pluggin away and be positive!

Current upgrade times are not necessarily a good way to decide where you want to go. Go somewhere that, if you were to NOT upgrade, it would be a tolerable quality of life (work/reserve rules, guaranteed days off, health benefits, etc.).

Ask any ExpressJet pilot who got hired in 2006, when the upgrade time was an anticipated eighteen MONTHS, how their career expectations have changed. Fortunately XJT had a fantastic quality of life going (for a regional) for several years; it's been on the decline for many months now. No regrets for me, but I would suggest that you choose your poison based on other, more conservative criteria.

wouldnt you think eagle would be a tolerable QOL maybe even good? Based on what Ive read and folks ive spoken to it doesnt seem like a horrible place and I could see myself being there for quite awhile. I was just hesitant to go there because of the long upgrade and huge seniority list. Now that the upgrade is down a few years already I had given them a second look. It wasnt just the upgrade.... base choice, pay, equipment, etc etc. were factors in me deciding to apply to eagle.
