Airline Apps Question:
I am filling out the Airline Apps form on their site and have a quick question on the FAA actions section, particularly aircraft incident. We hit a flock of Canada Geese one night descending to JFK, engine shut down, complete hydraulic failure, landed without incident on pavement, no injuries, with the exception of the geese. The report is on both NTSB and FAA sites, no certificate action. Is this something I would place in this particular section, since it looks geared more toward certificate action?

FAA Actions, no I would not since the FAA did not try going after your certificate or give you a warning.
But wasn't there a section where you could list incidents/accidents? I would list it there. Would make a great conversation piece in the interview and answer a lot of those "Tell me about a time where..." questions with good material.
Edit: I just looked under the "FAA Actions" and it asks about Aircraft Accidents, Aircraft Incidents. I would check "Yes" but the rest you check no to. Describe in the section below. The question is pretty direct. "Have you ever had...An aircraft accident." But again, the FAA didnt go after you and you performed admirably so you have nothing to sweat.

just BE CAREFUL what you check, there have been a few threads lately online about people checking boxes and getting rejection emails right after, it might be a better question when you get the HR notice, like "hi Vicky from xxx airlines, thanks for calling me to sced my interview, by the way I was not sure where to put this on my app but one night we hit birds going into jfk, it was uneventful but I want you guys to know." I personally think that box is for someone who crashed a plane, not whacked a bird, but what the heck do I know.

Rickt brings up a good point, but I know Eagle has been hyper rejecting people for "lying" on their application about things. Is there a number for the company you are applying for to get to their HR department?

there is a box to check called incident, you could try that, just put a good explanation. I hit a bird once with our 182 and dent the wing, I filed a NASA report and I never expect to bring it up to anyone again, I think I also sent in a report to the wildlife people.

Well if you never want to bring it up again, then you should not have posted it.

I would not put it on an application under accidents/incidents, if someone asked I would tell them, but I have had much crazier things happen while flying, so it honestly would not come to mind in an interview. I filed a NASA and told wild life, thats it, its over, this guy clearly had a huge deal, not like me hitting a hawk on the way down w a 182.
