Default Driving Record Check

I'm in the military and looking to retire soon. I have lived in several states over the past 20 years but I have maintained my drivers license from my home state of record. I know I have had a couple tickets over the years in various other states, but when I received my DMV report from my licensing state it was clean. Do I have to request a DMV report for each state I lived in? Will anything even show up in those DMV reports considering I did not possess a license from them? I just can't remember when or where I got the tickets so I'm relying on these reports to fill out my apps correctly. Thanks for any help.

If you request a driving record from a state that has not issued you a driver license, I'm pretty sure they won't be able to help you.

There is reciprocity in the system. The record will only go back 10 years for any offenses.

My state will show tickets from out of state. I would imagine most (all?) are the same.

The states are not all the same in this regard. True, my Florida record only went back ten years. However, my Pennsylvania record still showed a speeding ticket from high school... over 20 years ago.

Correct. The system is not consistent. Many airlines will ask for a DMV report from every state you've lived in during the past however-many years.

Best to read the fine-print on each airlines application, but it would probably be a good idea to send away for DM reports from any state which you will list as a residence on your airline app.

And no, military guys cannot list their home-of-record as their only address for a 20-year career. They don't care where your legal residence was, they want to know where to look for tickets, DUIs, criminal convictions, lawsuits, etc.
