Just seeing what you guys think of a decision I'm about to make. Currently an RJ FO at a decent regional, approaching second year pay, I one leg commute and it's not a bad commute. Thinking about going back to my old piston twin job though. I'd be home every night and make about $20k more next year even on second year pay. I've got about 4000tt 3000multi 2500pic 1000turbine(no pic turbine).

There is no point whatsover to holding a job as a regional fo except for this....
- Building seniority for upgrade
Upgrade allows you to move on (or maybe make what might be a livable wage if you have independent means to fund things like retirement and kid's college).
If you don't want/need the upgrade, or are not going to get one in a reasonable timeline you are wasting your time at a regional.

What's your ultimate goal as a pilot?
Airline? 135? Cargo? Or just flying for fun? etc.?
The first 3 if you want to work for a reputable and good paying company will require PIC turbine time for 85-90% of jobs.
You have to figure out what you want out of flying before you can truly decide the path to take.
My .02... Good luck!!

Upgrade is looking like 4-5 years from now and obviously I'd make more at the 135 gig in the mean time. But if I waited until upgrade I'd obviously be making more at the regional. So with my current times I'm debating whether I'd just be delaying the inevitable by leaving the jet. I've tried to avoid the regionals like the plague until I started here and it's about what I expected. The commuting is obviously the worst part and I can't move to a base right now.
I was seriously looking at moving (due to a change in domicile resulting in a difficult 2-leg commute)...and then out of the blue my airline signed a codeshare with another major and started direct flights between my base and hometown. Saved by the bell on that.
You need to figure out what your ultimate goals are and the best road to that.
