There are places where you can get the hours. I instruct at a 141 university and can get 150+ hours a month. It does include working 7 days a week and going right to 8 hours a day, but there are places out there it is possible at. The only thing that has been slowing me down recently is weather.

Isn't there still an FAR somewhere, about not flying more than 30 hours in 7 days, and 100 hours in 30 days...and...1000 hours in 12 mo?
150 a month? Really? Come on.
Or is a lot of that time ground instruction/sim time?

For a CFI it's 8 in 24. I regularly flew 130+ every month as a CFI.

Have you considered instructing at Embry-Riddle? If you are a full-time CFI, I think you get 12 credit hours per semester as part of your benefits. Despite all the Riddle-bashing that goes on on this forum, it is a very good school (especially for free). Get an engineering degree or a business degree and secure your future if you ever need to leave aviation.
Do everything you can to leverage your position and your experience. Making 40k a year while getting a 100k+ education sounds like a pretty good deal.

Not sure on either front. I believe there is a job listing posted on their website. I do know there's a pretty extensive standardization class that an applicant must pass before being officially hired.
