Default College degree at interview

Ladies and Gents,

I am near completion of my 4 year degree. It appears that I may have a interview with a major airline very soon. Last week, I applied for graduation, as my school is reviewing my degree status, would it be inappropriate for myself to advertise that I have completed the degree? Or, should I simply explain the situation upon interview?

Regards,

They will probably want to see a college transcript with your degree granted on it. I wouldn't advertise anything that isn't a fact. Having to explain things that aren't true could be perceived as sketchy. I understand why you want to do it, but I wouldn't if I were you.

If you get to an interview, I'm sure they'll give you full credit once you explain the situation. They will of course want to see the diploma eventually.

But since you got the interview in the first place, the lack of a degree probably wouldn't have torpedoed you.

I agree. Tough situation, but what if something happens and they come back and say you need something to finish? Stranger things have happened. If you advertise it to an airline an it's wrong, that's probably your last chance. Most majors will want to see your transcripts as well.

Regards,
So it is possible for a Major Airline to call without having a degree? Granted you are basically there. Just makes me curious if the industry is moving away more slowly from a 4 year requirement. I was sort of shocked to read that southwest has hired people with 2 year degrees.

Curious to know some details if you are willing to share. Thanks!

You can usually put a projected graduation date on an application and always on a resume.

Just be honest and try not to take credit for anything that is not OFFICIAL just in case your school reviews your degree status and find you need 3 more credits to graduate.
