That is an idiotic statement - but if you believe either post is in violation of the TOS - feel free to report it; or are you of the opinion that moderators can't have differing opinions on a subject matter? Don't get mad just because you don't see massive backpedaling out of us on the issue. ;)

Yes...having worked in the "commercial sector" makes all the difference
I know plenty of both without the benefit of your vast commerical experience. It isn't all one way or another no matter how much you want it to be.

It's a big eye opener compared to government/military employment where all the support and benefits can be taken for granted. As hard as military families have it, is better than the under belly of the aviation industry. There is absolutely zero consideration given for a pilots family, and he can't afford his family in the early years.

And I've been on both sides of the fence, more than once, so I'm qualified to make the comparison.

Bonus points for identifying the young male spectator.

No I don't see. Neither of us have violated any TOS, not even close. We don't have to agree on stuff all the time.

As a mil guy, I completely agree. I'd never waddle in the airline puddle without a retirement check or a TR job at a Guard/Reserve manned aircraft unit. The benefits (medical or otherwise) on the mil/govt side are hard to beat.

I will say this, QOL has a big variance in the military; the devil truly is in the details of your assignment. I've carved out a nice little niche QOL-wise compared to other military guys. If I was on non-stop deployments to the pork barrel political quagmires of the world, I'd be touting the benefits of a stateside airline job too; nevermind I'd be happy to take a paycut for it as well.

What I'd never do is work for a regional. I cannot afford the pay cut and I don't accept the experience/pay exchange offered, as a matter of principle. To each their own.

In addition to being a mod, you must also read minds, because those words run through my mind at least once every minute of every hour of every day

And none of that has anything to do with a blanket statement that families are dream killers.

Here's a different perspective from my opinion: careers can be spouse killers. If your career is more important than your marriage you're doing it wrong.
