There is an established "Range" of appropriate attire for an Airline interview. To put it bluntly its not burger king. A doctor or lawyer would not walk into a form and show up wearing khakis and a polo because that is not the well know industry standard. The responsibility and demeanor of this profession has set a standard, and they uphold it, we all uphold it so that both employer and employee realize that this is not burger king.
There are always exceptions; you will here people say they wore an orange tie and blue suit while still getting hired, who knows. All that may be true but is it likely, probably not. It’s ok to stand out but just make sure if you go outside the norm you are personally ok with it and can deal with any additional attention you may get. Good Luck If you are interested here is a look at the norm http://airlinepilotmentor.com/airlineinterviews.aspx |
I wore a blue suit, brown tie, brown socks, and brown dress shoes to my interview at UPS. I also wore a bright orange shirt and during the interview I was asked by Capt. Kahallen during the HR portion, " Did you wear that orange shirt because you knew Buz Thompson likes the Tennessee Vols college football team" ... MY answer..."Go Volunteers !"
Best of Luck, no matter what you wear...first impressions are the key ! |
I need to get some spiffy shoes. I got a great suit two years ago at a Robinsons May closing sale or something...it was a $450 suit, marked down to $150.

What is "company casual?" Is that the same thing as busines casual?

Blue Jean suit with a white undershirt, polished cowboy boots, and a nice cowboy hat did it for me. They hired me on the spot. Oh wait, is this for an airline interview???:D
|
I'd go with this outfit.
Seriously, just look professional... my suit was charcoal grey with a blue shirt and tie. And apparently I looked okay, because I got hired. If I can look good, ANYBODY can look good.... |
The "experts" used to recommend a book "Dress For Sucess" by John T. Molloy. I think that it is still floating out there in the used book section. It was an interesting read, since I'm a typical fashion nightmare. It even covered the business casual do's and don'ts.
