I got a job at 56 and lost the pulse 4 months earlier. The new standard is "ability to have a pulse" and it is best to have it coincide with the physicals. A modified insulin pump or certain types of turkey basting pumps that you can get from Boston Market are considered the best.

By the way, how long after starting can your family get passes?

Metamucil before bedtime helps with this.

(Only someone older will get this humor.)

Are you independently wealthy sir? There are other ways to go up and down in an airplane all day. This is by no means recommended sir.

You could work 121 until 65 and then work part 91/135 after. Use your type rating and go fly abroad

I say let him try it, he'll be glad he did! Those Dayton overnights at the ramada are just the best. And you fly a jet for tons of money.

Hey Jim, 55 is the new 45...and once you get your 10 years worth of 121 you can go 135 forever until the day your medical gets thrown out. I know a few guys in their 70s flying for Jetsuite on the CJ3 and Phenom 100.

You might get hired, but at 55 are you skilled enough to make it through a 121 training program? The older folks are the ones that wash out in training. And why in the world are you settling for a very low paying job at age 55? God help me if I'm making 30K at age 55.

Second career? Already got retirement covered? Just doing it for fun? The happiest people at this job are the people that don't need to worry about the future.

Got that covered? Go for it, and have fun.

Need the job? Need the money? Lots of outside responsibilities still?

I wouldn't do it.
