Default Sim time

Trying to add everything for Airline Apps. In my logbook while an instructor, I logged ftd given to my students under flight simulator and as flight instructor, but didn't total the column. The only totals in the flight sim column were when I had lessons. Question, should I total all sim times since I logged them, or not. This was time from the late nineties totaling 2.5 years in a paper logbook.

How is FTD given a loggable item? Were you in a control seat or operating the FTD from behind? I can't see how you log that from either seat since you at no time were able to manipulate the controls.

Yeah, it's been so long ago, thinking I did put it in the logbook since it was instructor time given, so I'd have a log of what I did with students, and probably why I didn't total it.

It's not time acting as a flight instructor. If you want to total it and call it something else, you can, that's up to you and I wouldn't advise putting it in a column/box that is already defined. Also, was it a full motion sim? If not, be careful what you call it. Level 6 and above FTDs are Flight Simulation Training Devices, but not sims unless level A-D, below Level 6 they are Aviation Training Devices.

(3) A certificated flight instructor may log pilot in command flight time for all flight time while serving as the authorized instructor in an operation if the instructor is rated to act as pilot in command of that aircraft.
These flight times are used for a few things, but not much, such as the requirement to have 200hrs of flight instruction time before instructing a flight instructor student. The key is "flight". Training time given is something not defined as far as flight instructors are concerned, so what you define or explain that as is up to you.
