Is it possible for pilots who have been stuck at a company with low wages and benefits to have the same mental condition. By talking to fellow pilots here at ATI I noticed during the last round of negotiations (which took 9yrs) they continually go the extra mile for the company. Even voluntarily go into war zones without hazard pay, block early etc etc. Same thing is happening now, Email came out today saying we are headed to mediation yet we are keeping performance above 98%. The company gives us great accolades of how great we are but won't pay us an industry rate nor pay us that of our sister company. Yet the group here feels the need to try to out perform our sister company. I truly think this may be decades of a beaten condition

Ok seriously from a psych perspective. This is no BS
Don't think your term is accurate. I think it's actually similar to a combat fatigue (before you laugh read on). In prolonged harsh conditions a persons mental state establishes a new set point or point of normalcy. So when things happen it doesn't register, you're numb to things that would upset others because they are within your norm. When new people enter the groups they don't have the same views of reality and they stand out and even appear as non-normal to those in the group.
I'm not mocking ya, I agree and see the point your making. That's why I love the new people coming on. There is a name for a group condition like this and it was formed during WW1. I remember studying it in college just don't recall the name. Basically formed of isolated groups. That's why the pilot group is so close. Would not surprise me in the least our DO knows the term he's pretty well read and don't expect a chime in
Ok cherish it, I'm back to sarcasm now....

There is *no way* ATI is 98% unless they are giving themselves credit for finding other operators to do their flights when they break down, which is a pretty silly metric.
ATI is jammed, there is zero chance you will get even ABX rates because then you have no reason to exist as a whipsaw. ATI's purpose as an airline is to undermine the unity of another pilot group with better pay and work rules. Unless you think ATSG bigwigs are going to hand ATI the golden goose simply to spite ABX, ATI will not get a good contract.

No that's the point he makes
Our guys will extend duty and pick up trips to make it happen. We are pretty consistently above 97.5%, 98 being typical. It's a fact and a said one at that. Considering our pay....
The mentality here has alway been "If we can just try a little harder they'll pay us".
Kinda reminds me of liberals and terrorist "if we hug them and understand their pain they'll stop cutting our heads off"
Same difference
Oh except if I was headless I couldn't look over at the spot next to me and see pilots from the same company flying the same stuff and plane making WAY MORE

Yes, it's a real thing. I make 40% below industry standard flying 747s internationally. I flew with a captain the other day that told me we should be thankful to fly such great equipment and have such a great job. Also, we should violate the CBA to enhance the flexibility so important to our customers.
