Or did you guys sign a contract that had shiny pay rates but no decent work rules and now you have to work ridiculously long days to make decent money?
Bingo.

Throw money at the desert flying and you'll have a list of volunteers to do that type of flying year round. Problem solved.

Dude...

You obviously just enjoy pot stirring. No meaningful contributions on any of the threads that you drop in on. But, I'm gonna indulge you just to make a point...

It is not just about avoiding a hostile area. We got that. The 24 hour thing is about realistic quality of life. (BTW, assuming that you can actually read the docket, check out the DAL exemption for their flights that exceed 16 hours aloft and you will find that the Legacy guys are cool with long days when it suits them, too.)

We really don't want to spend a layover in, say, Lagos. We would much rather stay on the jet and go back to the EU. Beer is better in Germany and the chicks are good eye candy in the summer time. Plus, we get paid at full flight pay for the whole trip. Much better than half pay deadhead back on a commercial flight (And, just to prevent that from spewing from your pie hole, it would be business or better based on the time aloft).

Not sure if you even are part of this segment of the industry. But, if you are, it is time to grow up...

Seeing that a flight to a hostile area from the EU is about 7 hours, how do K4 pilots need 30 to complete that round trip. Atlas and everybody else seem to be able to avoid overnighting in war zones while still getting in and out in under 18 hours.

Do you realize that UPS doesn't buy other airlines? Especially ones where the entire fleet still has flight engineer seats in their ancient planes?

It was about the planes, not about our pickets. DHL couldn't give a spit about "good will".

Better to keep your mouth shut when dealing with subjects that you know nothing about.

Those K4 pilots who are undecided about decertifying 1224 may want to consider the intelligence and forethought of the people who are leading this parade when they can't even spell the word "Independence" correctly.

UPS bought Challenge Air Cargo. I've been in this business just a little bit longer than you have.

8-

Don't know how other's did it but we would typically go from Europe to OAKH/OAZI/OAMS garden spots, then ferry to OAIX for fuel, then back to Europe, this was right at 18 hours and any delay would leave you stuck. No longer doing this but who knows what the future holds? Also, US-Cape Verde-sh!thole, I'd rather ferry the plane to AMS afterwards than stay in Sh!thole Sheraton and commercial on Shi!thole Airlines. Can't speak for everyone but with double crew, bunks, catering, and full pay it a no brainer for me. No one at KA is pushing for 30 hours, don't know why some are so stuck on that number. KA and Negotiating Committee agreed on 24 hours but Dan Wells sad no. What do you think the arbitrator will say?

In 10 years at KA I've exceeded 18 hours maybe 2 or 3 times. I see the option to exceed 18 hours as more of a benefit than a liability.

Can't help but feel that for some the goal is to work as little as possible rather than make as much as possible. If that's the case why don't they just quit and be unemployed?

O

Do you even know what quality of life means?

If you are spending 24 hrs on the aircraft then obviously you DON'T

As far as being in the industry...I was at Evergreen before Connie even started bought his first classic. And I am still in the industry.

And if you and your whiny little.cronies are going to be a drag on improving industry standards and practices then be prepared for blowback. The rest of us are trying to get better CBA's, K4 did not. Enjoy your shiny pay rates.

Go back into the thread before your new CBA. Some of your fellow pilots were worried that Connie would not make enough money.

Face it. Instead of getting a really great contract and advancing the goals of pattern bargaining, you wimped out and settled for much less than you should have. Now you want to work 24 hr days and blame DW, 1224 and Atlas Pilots because you have no balls and Connie does

So DUDE , I hope you get your wish and get out of 1224.

Maybe K4 and all the other 1224 carriers should push to get Atlas out of 1224 and into its own local. The overwhelming majority of Atlas pilots would be in agreement, plus we were promised our own local when we switched to IBT.
