Yep, heard this while in the training center today. The extent of the damage is not yet known, but since this sim was on its way to Montreal for upgrade, any delays will certainly impact our training pipeline.

Let's see...do I want to spend the summer in Helsinki? Does Delta still have a level4 sim in ATL? Is there any time available?

The parking of the 727 fleet with its upcoming displacements will really logjam the training center now. Some new hire training slots will be covered by all this transition training. Glad I'm flying the line for the next few months!

I did my initial Sim Training on the MD-11 in Helsinki back in Jun 0f 97. Best deal I've ever gotten at Fedex. Finnair took really good care of us. I spent 3 weeks there and the weather was perfect. Too bad we can't do sims there again.

Default Good deal

I did my MD-11 f/o ground school in Long Beach and sims in Helsinki. Both were very nice, I would do it again anytime ...

It was nice doing MD-11 ground school in Long Beach ... If you had a question the instructor couldn't answer, he'd walk next door during the break, talk to the MD-11 engineers and return with schematic diagrams and the answer to your question.

And like somebody stated above ... Finnair treated us very well, they were obviously glad to have our business. Helsinki is a very nice city (although moderately expensive).

Regards,

Mark

Did all my ground school and sims in Zurich, even had to do Swissair's CBTs (ours was shutdown by the FAA a the time), May/Jun/Jul 97. Quiet and sleepy, no LGB or Finnish distractions!
