Archie,
Actually she is right. I have had students of mine get switched to different airplanes while in sims. UPS thinks they may know where they are going, but change numbers and seats at the last minute. Only they know why, when I ask they don't know Reality is: They think they are hiring for a class of MD-11, so the Training Fleet heads look at the experience level and they let HR call them in based on what they think will happen. It changes, and all of you go ONT. Oh well, they missed the mark. But we'll get the next class. This is where you are correct, about filling with any body coming in, yep, it's ANC, really it is, unless its SDF ......but they thought it was going to be ONT (which is now filled by your class) so the RJ folks get to go to ANC. Kinda funny really.

Is there a thread for information on training? How long is training? Where do we stay? Schedules? Can we jumpseat home for the weekends?

I hear we do a ride along in a package car delivering packages. That will be pretty cool.

Brown... here is what I know as of the moment, maybe someone will chime in that has been through in the past month or so.
No info on training other than it is 8-10 weeks. Weekends are "free" until SIM (which can be scheduled day or night). The hotel was mentioned above, ours (23rd class) was moved to the Hampton Inn by the airport.

1st week is HR stuff and your "ride along", 2ed is BI..., then I assume everyone splits into AC training.
They made a point of telling me I can JS when I get my company ID, which I can only assume is early in the process.

Man, I hope you hear soon, Time is ticking........ Good Luck!

You'll get the ID in the first few days. We started on a Thursday and most had them by Tues or Wed. So you should be able to get home that first weekend since you're starting on a Monday BUT you have to turn in your passport sometime early in training to get the proper visas. You can wait to hand it in but it needs to be back in your possession by the time you start IOE, so beware. It's really laid back. The ride along was ok but glad I don't have to do it everyday. Training timeline is not set in stone we '757' guys from the first March class were sent home after indoc...still here and don't spin up till the 11th. We could have stayed in SDF the entire time with hotel provided and we have been getting paid. So I guess we were lucky to get a first year vacation. Of course, on year one pay I couldn't afford to go anywhere but my guard unit to try and make some $. The Hampton is a 7-8 min drive to the training center. Welcome to Brown!

I don't think so. I know several folks that had other military backgrounds. I think that having worldwide experience helped get the interview, and I think having heavy experience puts you on the short list for ANC.

I am not guard or AD... the other option would be reserve. Formerly AD (not in Fred).

The good news is that you'll probably be on reserve in ANC which means a 15 day block. You'll only have to jumpseat once a month. If you are a mil reservist you'll be able to maintain all benefits and credit for probation as long as you do at least 8 days of reserve. Commuting to ANC on probation is not the best scenario IMO. But you gotta do whatcha gotta do.
Thanks for the info here, and in the other referenced thread. It sounds dangerous, and will probably get more sketchy as more of us are sent up there but leave the roots in the US...

peterpilot379 - thanks for the suggestion. The education continues...

No. I was at TCM from 98-01, then Air ETC. That name doesn't ring a bell so I may not have crossed paths with you.

Sorry to all about the personal laundry on posted for all, perhaps I'll be able to PM after this...

And thanks to all with wheels on the 23d, in advance...

So far it looks like Beaker, Brown, AKplacer, Aseweepay, Jet jocky, and mylelf are in the 23rd... anybody else?
I will be there on the 23rd. Told MD-11 Anchorage, but as we all know, until after the first year, who knows.

My time line was:

late Dec call for interview
Jan 15 interview
Feb 5 pool letter
March 28 contingent call for drug test
April 5 class date.

I did not do any of the "new" online assessment process. I had an application in from 2004, then updated every 6 months or so, then did the big update in 8/06 and was able to get a userid and login for the more detailed app.

Thanks to everyone who shares their info/experience on here. It helps to know a little about what's going on.

Good luck to everyone still trying to apply and looking forward to seeing the other people in class on the 23rd.

12 days for pilots and mechanics. You can always get bumped, but we have a lot of seats going that way. Almost never a rider out of EWR or RFD. Several flights a day in and out of SDF

These guys are going to be FOs so I looked at the FO awards. I couldn't hold reserve up there on the MD11 in 07-03. Where did you get your info?
