With mini-bid out plus MOAB2 coming, I know a lot of us junior purple pilots are wondering what to choose: MD, Bus, 777, 757...Personally, I'm leaning toward the MD because of the variety of trips. Heard Airbus trips are getting more and more like the Boeing (don't like doing 2-3 legs). I'm even thinking about the 777 if I can hold better seniority than the Bus/MD (don't think many WB F/O's will switch seats for same pay). I'm a commuter so sitting reserve is out and max DH's are a plus. Would LAX be better than MEM for this? Lastly, do you think the rumored 3 year training letter is realistic? Toying with bidding ANC for seniority then lateral to MEM or LAX on follow on bid, but don't want to be stuck in ANC for years.
I know that these are all great choices have and I'm very thankful to be facing such a dilema, but it's still a tough decision when you consider that the choice you make will be one you may have to live with for many years.
Thanks,
SG

From: Completely Apolitical Nonsensical Slogan that has nothing to do with politics in the slightest....
Makes you wonder how many people will bite on the mini-Bid with so much happening on the MOAB Part Deux.
Plus, I wonder who wants to commit to training right away in June or July...
Hmmmm....

First off there is no Bid for the 777 and there might not be on the next bid or two. One you don't even know if you could hold it, and two you don't know if the trips would be commuter friendly. Remember you can't J/S directly into a trip that starts out MEM-NRT or MEM-CDG.
Secondly both the 777 and 757 are new so initially there will only be a few airplanes and the schedules will be limited. As a new or Junior guy, personally I would stick to the Known flying...........When the new airplanes show up and are the schedules are somewhat established, you can look at them, see if you can hold them, see if you even want them and Bid for it on a subsequent Bid.
It sounds like you commute so the general rule is BID where you are the most Senior........except for ANC.....unless you are ALOT more Senior
As for Bidding ANC. It will depend on where you live and what your seniority is. I would be more senior up there than MEM but the commute up/back keeps me in MEM. (I commute too, ANC is too difficult to get too and takes too long for me) Massive Growth and large Bids may not continue. Be ready and willing to keep your current lifestyle for several years. If you don't want to be junior, be forewarned.
If Money is more Important than being Senior than obviuosly Bid the 300 or MD-11. If Quality of life is number one then BID % seniority and see whee the cards fall. Don't try to second guess Airplanes that aren't here yet.

Not to mention I haven't seen a payrate for it (tres 7), and to have people bidding it at current Widebody pay sets a poor precedent. Some Gomer will bid it that way and leave us no room to negotiate the A380 pay as a replacement.
