The PDD's have been passed around and demonstrated at several instructor meetings. About a dozen PDD's (Porno Delivery Devices) are currently in the hands of various LCA's for torture testing. This will be followed by the purchase of approximately 300 more for all the LCA's. Finally, all crewmembers will be issued PDD's on a fleet by fleet basis.

When this will happen is still not clear. Also not clear are the ROE. Who pays for the thing if it gets broken? Gets lost?

I've heard that there are problems with wireless updating of LIDO info.

Default Last but not least.

Since the Boeings are getting EFB last, it only makes sense that we will get PDD's last to make sure every leg is a surprise when you show up to the jet. This is only after making sure the $#%^&$ ramp computer doesn't work so good, since it is usually being used as a leg for one of the broken down recliners.

Usually it's one of the ramp office's POS old PC's running Windows 98 that is in the Pilot's planning area. About 2 years ago a huge number of black Dell PC's were sent out to various outstations for placement in the pilot flight planning rooms. Look around. Several outstations opened the boxes when they came in and saw that spanking shiny new black Dell PC and quickly installed it somewhere else and put a POS in the pilot room. Several outstations did the right thing and put them where they belong but about an equal number that I've seen have ended up in the ramp offices.

I see so many responses to FSR's that state, "this would be better reported in a Pilot Ops report"....perhaps everytime we encounter a POS PC that needs remplacement PDQ...we should file an OPSREP.

There is in fact a feedback form in the EFR section that addresses this. I wrote up the lousy computer in the ATL ramp and got a (fairly) speedy reply. Don't know if or what's going to be done, but for this thing to work, we need real computers at all the ramps, and they need to be properly maintained... Took 30 minutes to print a release in ATL.
