Default ABX Air Hiring

Talked to ABX Air HR today and they said they are gearing up to hire. Not sure exactly when..."maybe in two months or maybe this fall or possibly after the first of the year". Sounds like a diffinent maybe. She also said they are working on the pilot hiring website to update the info. You will be able to apply online. In the meantime fax your resume in and they will keep it in a file and try to call you back to tell you to go online and apply when the website is up and running. (937-383-4305 fax) Not sure how many of the furloughees are coming back. APC shows 20 on furlough but I think some of those are PFEs who will not be coming back (I think). She also stated that those on furlough will not affect hiring due to most of them getting other jobs and not returning. Not sure how true that is. FYI

Thanks for the info, I talked to HR back in March and she said the same thing. I check the website quite frequently and it is changing some, but not what I hoped to see. I keep faxing resumes every month or so, just to keep "bugging" them, hopefully they will remember me when interview time comes around.

I assume you have done your homework and know all you need to know about ABX Air???? Not bad mouthing or anything but facts are facts...its no UPS or Fed Ex but the pay is good and the lines are pretty good (so I'm told) but the movement is very slow as you can see.

I assume this is due to Hete's bid to take over all of North America and operate it for DHL??

I heard this from an Astar friend of mine but have seen or heard little on here about it. Any ABX guys want to chime in about the possible N.A. takeover? It is obvious what it will do for ABX...but what will happen to Astar? Intergration, kicked to the curd, little of both??

Us ABX guys will be the absolute last to know anything. Haven't seen any indication either company is going anywhere soon. Never any shortage of rumors around here.

Anybody can bid to do anything, but IMHO the likelihood of DHL relying on one carrier to service all their domestic feed is nil. The likelihood of that carrier being one that is already represented by one of the most pernicious unions (Teamsters) on the face of the earth is even less than nil. It's sub-nil.

On the other hand...

Contract negotiations at ABX and Astar are ongoing, with both groups being told that future growth will depend upon conciliations now. Both have pledged not to accept a conciliatory contract. Despite efforts by both unions, tensions between the pilot groups are strained. Starting a rumor like this right now will certainly provide some lively conversation among the flight crews of both carriers for weeks to come.

Thanks for the entertainment!
