You’re doing the 17 days by choice. I am going to make an assumption that you’re an FO. The S.A.P. (Schedule Adjustment Period) has been generally green for the FO’s the last several months. The Captains SAP has been greenish. Anyone can move their days around with minimal effort to do a couple of commutes or one like I choose. If you’re not getting 4 day weekends it’s because you’re relatively junior.

Correct to an extent. Anyone commuting multiple legs is somewhat forced into that schedule to avoid 4 commutes in a month. The DHL side 4 days are awesome if you can hold it, Amazon not so much (as evidenced by the dumpster fire of a November bid package). Further, the report times also force coming out a day early. You lose days off on the front end and sometimes the back end. Something to keep in mind for people coming over here that commute.

You are misrepresenting this. You don’t loose days off on either end of an Amazon line. If you report at say 2200 in the evening you get credit for that day. Same goes on the back end. If you finish at say 1000 in the morning you get credit for that day. Depends on where you commute from on how convenient it is. I live on the west coast. If I end my trips with an Amazon sequence I generally get home about 12 hours earlier than on a DHL sequence.

A same day commute in the AM (which I have done), with the way the airlines are now, can quickly become being awake for 24 hours. In reality, a lot of the return trips end around 1700 local when coming back to CVG from the West Coast. Like you said, depends on where you live but many times the last train out of dodge is boarding around 1800-1830. Nothing convenient about our pairings, as evidenced (like I said earlier) by the November bid package. More legs, less time on layovers with extended airport sits.

Work that SAP hard! Your seniority should shoot up pretty quick.

So, I heard upgrades are as soon as you have the requirements (1k 121) .. is this true? TIA. I have also heard 8-24 months. Not sure if they're still hiring at this moment or not.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how many at the top of the FO list decide they're done waiting to upgrade.

Regardless, I would be very cautious about thinking that 1000 hours of 121 time is the primary prerequisite for upgrade. It's not as simple as that.

There is no hiring happening at the moment and no announced plans for hiring in the near future.

So of course, a day later, there's an announcement that there will be a class in January. It will be filled from the hiring pool and Omni furloughs, so no interviewing is occurring at the moment.

Can't wait to see the red green calendar showing us understaffed though. Congrats to the 8 FOs that will not hold a line for the foreseeable future. Then again, 1224 said nobody would be on reserve by 2026.
