I do not know if anyone is following but things are getting ugly up in Canada and it now seems they are going to try to punish their own by using Americans to do it. I hope in the very least we can agree and try to thwart this collectively as it is egregious. The Cargojet pilot's are trying to improve their way of life and not be beat down by their management. I don't know how American's can fly C registered aircraft but I am hoping it's just a threat. A threat none the less should be met with all of us standing together to stop this, I hope. We need to let the unions know and particularly ALPA that has a strong Washington D.C. voice. Stay United.

The most effective thing we can do right now is get rid of the "cargo carveout." That would put this to an end right now.

Thank you for the articles, Braniff. I've crossed paths with these guys on the ramp in CVG and been out drinking with them in YYC, and I wish them all the best. They've got a hard fight ahead of them, but the same could have been said of my own employer (K4) not so long ago. Anyone undermining their efforts out of malice or ignorance will only torpedo us all down the road.

Unless I'm missing something critical, the new rules don't seem at all out of synch with the rest of the developed world, and it's not as if the US will have the pilots to spare going forward. Attempting to use the threat of bringing in higher paid, better regulated plugs from down south seems a bizzare strategy from where I'm sitting, but then, I don't have an MBA.

It is interesting...you do see N# aircraft being operated by Avianca with Colombia crews.

Maybe they won't be higher paid....in CVG we have seen over and over a bottom feeder airline and the crews willing to accept bottom feeder pay continue to take over routes and be given DHL aircraft while taking them from another carrier. Race to the bottom.

Before we get all fired up about supporting they Cargojet Union, we should recognize that cargojet's actual stated plan in the long-term is to establish a subsidiary in the US and start to take business from American carriers by flying US domestic routes. That's the overriding goal. Whatever nonsense management is throwing at staff right now is likely just that.

Which they already have...21 Air is fly Cargojet aircraft now. 21 Air is happy to help them take business.

Be careful saying things that just are not true. 21Air is not flying ANY cargo for Cargojet. Now, I COULD ask what did everyone do when DHL shutdown their very own airline and outsourced the entire operation. It was also an ALPA carrier. That would make everyone flying DHL cargo currently guilty of the same crime. Capt Depete should be careful how far he pushes this because someone may bring it up. 1)Cargojet is NOT ALPA. 2) Unifor, Cargojets own union, is in on this. 3)Lots of different companies have foreign ownership, ESPECIALLY DHL. 4)U.S. carriers had hubs in foreign countries for many many years. Pan Ams IGS was one. Pan Am also owned Pangra which operated in S. America. It would be hypocrisy.

Saying 21Air is anyworse than anyone else in the DHL world is just irresponsible. I am not saying they are any better just saying the race to the bottome started a long time ago and when those poor DHL guys and girls were cut lose, no one did a thing. Now all these “outfits” fight for the scraps and watch everyone turn on each other which is really the grand design.

Not one pilot that has taken a job at any DHL carrier is any worse or better than another.

I believe this is the same Cargojet that showed up in Miami back in 09 during the Amerijet pilot strike and flew struck freight when every other pilot group in the US refused
