From: One foot in the garbage bag...
There is only 1 (one) flying AN-225. This is an extremely rare sighting if it took place!
AN-124's, or the "C-5-ski" is all over the place. I've seen them in Fort Lauderdale, where I live~
-I wound up in East Midlands one night, and after I parked the 727 I was flying, an AN-124 pulled into the spot next to us. Me and my FO walked over to the plane and walked inside. One of the Russians gave us a tour...
*First of all, the lower deck is unpressurized. There are horizontal doors at the top of the ladder to the upper deck that have very good seals, and our Slavic tour guide confirmed this.
*The Antonov design bureau, who flew this plane, doesn't believe in spending money on hotels in the west. As such, though the flight crew went to the hotel...the 12 loaders that they carried around behind the wing box were basically living up there. I'm not kidding: they had a Magic Chef range strapped to a pole, and a large extention cord powering the thing. Since Russian house current is 220 volts, it apparently worked. While we were standing there, something disgusting was boiling in a pot. I try not to think about that smell these days...
*My FO was a female, who currently works at United Airlines. While we were standing there, several of the loaders walked past us completely naked, apparently just after a shower. She shaded her eyes and gave me this "Can you even BELIEVE this is happening look? I was doing my best to keep from laughing.
For what it is worth...Uhm..(cough) none of them will EVER be porn stars~

I went over there after work Wednesday night/Thursday morning, they had the nose open and there were these large white boxes, some near the nose, some on flat bed trucks. I read somewhere that it was a "power plant" going to somewhere in Kuwait. Wonder why it is back though, if filled with scooby snacks, how long do you think those would last . . .

They were to depart England with a RR engine for a BA 777 in China; There they pick up a satallite for San Jose CA; Then pick up an Americas Cup yacht for Australia, then back to Europe.
I stopped complaining about our schedules for a while after hearing all that.
