Default FDX Majority Opinion...

This LOA represents six months of Negotiating Committee and MEC work which included, among other things, personal visits to the proposed locations. ALPA Staff were present during our meetings to give detailed briefs and expert analyses regarding the Railway Labor Act, taxation, healthcare and other topics of concern for FedEx pilots and their families. The MEC received input from many sources, including our members currently assigned to an FDA in their analysis of the issues. This LOA will not be all things to all pilots, but it does contain very significant enhancements to our current contractual FDA language.

Your MEC considered a wide range of factors which ultimately convinced us that this agreement warrants your approval.

If the union has spent the last 6 months gathering info why are they just now starting to share some of that info...so where is the rest of it??? Don't just tell me ratify this LOA and drink the coolaid, please explain to me why I should and why this is the best the MEC can negiotiate.

I still can't figure out how any pilot that has children in school would be able to to bid either one of these FDS's with no provisions for schooling?

I know the plan is to have 757 based in CDG but has the company officially come out and said that HKG will be an Airbus base?

I'm still voting a big fat NO! I'd rather roll the dice and try yo have the company sweeten the deal. If they don't then let them sweat it out trying to figure out outsoursing the freight that they need to move.

You commute. I know a guy who commutes to SFS from N.C. Knew a guy who commuted to SFS from Costa Rica. We have guys commute to ANC from Florida. If you live in/near MEM, IND or EWR, Paris is no big whoop. If you are in The Pelosi Republic of California, there are lots of SFO and LAX options to HKG. I know, I know, that's time away from the family but this is a job, not an adventure. If you are truly a mercenary, like some of us, then, with the proper use of vacation and anal glaucoma, you should have many more days at home than Bob next door, the traveling salesman. Besides, 20 guys in a crashpad at $150 per month....bingo....3 grand!

Another poster on a different thread said the MEC and the Company didn't really have the idea people would take kids to the FDAs. If that's true, then all of this makes much more sense to me. Get a small number of single and/or empty nesters to bid the FDAs, the majority of the crew force who have families stay CONUS. Win/win for the company and those single guys or older couples who want to live overseas. This LOA, it seems, is targeted to a very specific group of pilots at FDX. You would think the MEC would make that more apparent to us. Albie is still waiting for someone from that group to explain why it's a good deal, but no takers yet. I personally think the deal stinks, I'll vote no, the MEC should have been filling us in 6 MONTHS AGO about this crap, and I think the company will implement the LOA with or without our majority vote. Which makes me wonder why they sent it to a vote in the first place. I think the real message will be sent when noone bids the FDAs and we vote in a bunch of new blood to the MEC.

...Or any of their belongings, standard of living or dignity either, apparently.
