FDX'ers on LOA
#4
In regards to the LOA and future staffing, does anyone know if FDX is even hiring right now? I jumpseated on FDX the other day and the crew said they weren't even hiring right now. What's the forecast for future hiring. With the LOA up for vote, does it look like all new hires will be sent oversees?

FR8Hauler, Think there will be a mass exodus prior to the rule change? I still believe a majority of the near 60 guys with 25 years will go early or on time.

I agree. IMHO as long as the CBA and PBB still have our normal retirement age at 60, I think the majority will continue to leave at 60 or earlier. Most of the guys who stay past 60 will be trying to get that last couple years to complete 25 or get 5 yrs of WB Cap "high 5." If the normal age changes with the next contract, who knows?

IF the LOA passes with STV, dont expect to see new hires go to HKG. Company wants 'experienced' guys over there and the STV will allow the company to junior man the FDA(first two yrs after each FDA opens) with experienced Bus or MD pilots already on property.

Which is funny since aren't they planning on putting the 757s in CDG? Who exactly is experienced on that equipment? Not saying that new hires have any experience with FDXs operations, but it's still a new fleet type for both the pilots and MX.
