FDX and ALPA/ Authority and The Web

A rhetorical question: Why do the company and the union hate these boards so much? I've seen nothing here that I haven't heard on the crew bus or heard at a bar. And I've learned an awful lot on the crew bus and at the bars. I've also heard an amazing amount of bullsh1t.
I'm sure there's a famous quote about lies and light being shined on them and I think that's what they hate most. And, how dare you question my authority seems to be a common theme. But control of information is what it is all about.
On age 60, our association president stated that we had to move too fast for a poll. Really? Doesn't the union have all our e-mail address? Couldn't he have sent us the train leaving the station propaganda and tried to get our consent?
TonyC has shown all of us what an effective tool this is. Sure, it's like any tool and can be mishandled but it's a very powerful one. A company has never had to face a united crew force with the Internet as a communication tool. I don't think our union is using it well and I hope TonyC can show those guys a thing or two. Tony, can we web-cast some of the meetings/roadshows/town hall forums?
Yea I know management is watching and that's one aspect of free speech and the Internet that I just love. When I call an ACP or block rep, all I get is the "company line". But when 200 guys start screaming here , now we see some questions for Cassel in VIPS and roadshows.

Yep! Thats the answer!
Don't count on it. The last one temporarily cost T(we ain't crashed one yet)F his medical
and FPA/ALPA an out of court settlement!

I'll second the idea of web-casting the meetings/town hall forums. Sometime you cant' make these meetings for the simple reason that you are already on the road doing the job. It would be nice to expand access to these discussions.
As for email: Is Tony C using it to communicate within your block? I have seen nothing from my rep, and the message on the Block 7 part of the FedEx ALPA/MEC website is about 9 months old. Must be nice to have a block REP, repping.....

. Yes, Mgt is watching and is making notes on any/all of our meetings; Hell, they are better informed than over half the membership. In this internet age, that is just a crying shame with all the communications options available.

During contract roadshows, I asked why the union couldn't "film" the show and send it out to the majority of us who don't live in Elvisville. They said someone could use what they say against us???????????????? I just think they don't want to so they can control any and all information. I sat at the hub briefs on this LOA where we were told more information would be forthcoming. I guess one meeting in Germantown (I guess all of us out of town are out of luck AGAIN) is considered sufficient. I guess we don't pay enough dues to get webcast, podcasts, etc.
