Default JL Letter on PFC

Good info; still no.

Their intent is only 1 month invol STVs. My intent was to make my Deviation check in. Both should carry equal weight.

If it is only one month then let us keep it as SIBA. After all you'll have plenty of dudes volunteering for the 3 month vacation. And you'll only need to use SIBA once a blue moon.

Lots of "we don't know" including medical.

Still waiting for tax info. What tax info did the MEC use?

If sample lines will ready in mid Aug how come they aren't ready now?

Look out MDs your next. Followed by the end of European SIBA. I guess they didn't tell BC or else he wouldn't have said this dosen't change SIBA. STV's forever.

Default Straight from JL

For planning purposes, the future flying at FedEx (at this point in time) looks like the following right now. The next bid will have 2 new international bases on it…..HKG A300 and CDG B757, plus a MEM B757 base. A future bid, maybe next year, will probably have a HKG MD11 base and maybe CDG A300 and MEM B777 bases also.

This LOA affects EVERYBODY, even the MD guys. The company wants this bad, real bad. I mean they are pulling out all the stops and are getting real nervous, otherwise why would they be sending out so much spin and try to sell this thing so much.

We NEED more housing allowance period! If the company would come to the table with just a little more finacial assistance then we would not even be talking about STV, we wouldn't have to worry about it. Take care of us and we'll take care of the freight.

I'm still a NO!

The income tax disadvantage alone would be enough to deter any pilot from bidding these bases.

This is the whole reason why the company needs the LOA, otherwise NOBODY would bid it. There is no possible reason why the union and the company can't sit down and tweak this LOA just a little bit to make it more viable. I just can't see how this is the BEST the company can do, come on seriously! Don't let "The Sky Is Falling" crys make you think otherwise...

PurpleTail,

Excellent point. I have some MD F/O friends who just don't seem to think the LOA affects them. Hence, they have not bothered to become familiar with it.
If something affects a few pilots now, it will eventually affect all pilots later. Accepting this LOA now will just make us spend more negotiating capital later to try and correct it. I'm still voting NO.

Amazing the # of times that letter refers to "personal choice" when the company wants to tell you what they are NOT going to pay for certain things overseas (...your housing, your car, your kids education, etc...)

But then is asking for NEW AUTHORITY to implement a non-voluntary inverse to a 90-day STV if they can't sell enough of their "enhanced LOA move packages" to fill the slots.

Keep SIBA...or offer the trips as part of the monthly bid pack.

If they go unfilled, then pay DRAFT --- that way it truly is "personal choice"!

It's still a "NO" --- get back to the table and negogiate.

I love how JL compared living in LAX or ANC with the FDA's.....What a salesman.

Not even budging off of NO....

What still amazes me is the notion of the "Enhanced" option. Besides the substandard amount for the housing allowance, nothing is "Enhanced". Everything else is a concession. Like someone said in an earlier post, don't fall for the Jedi Mind Trick.

Maybe these are the droids I'm looking for...

After reading JL's email I am definately sold on the NO vote.

No school assistance is a big no, no. You ever met a kid that has been homeschooled? I have........talking to one is like getting teeth pulled. Aint no way I am going to homeshcool my kids. According to the company (and Union) its a personal choice to educate my kids. You're kidding right??!!

Here's a great example of a homeschooled kid........you get a spelling bee champion with no social skills whatsoever. I dont know about you guys but I dont want my kids to turn out like this one............

Actually.... My wife home schools our kids and they are not at all like goober boy in that video. If that kid went to public school, he'd be just the same except he'd be getting beat up on a regular basis. The vast majority of public schools suck. Private schools have their own problems. The kids I know who are home schooled are a lot like kids 30-40 years ago. They're polite, intelligent and are respectful of adults. All that said, it's completely insulting that the company and the MEC even suggest home school as an acceptable alternative to them doing right by us in this LOA.

Let them eat SIBA....
