21 Air

What is the latest? Heard there is trouble and a new CEO.

Braniff DC8 05-09-2024 10:34 AM

Been a long time

The company has been in trouble for some time and quite frankly, I am surprised it's still in business. It kind of got tied to Cargojet in Canadia but it hasn't really been working out. It flies really old, clapped out freighters and bottom feeds from Miami or, I guess, Greensboro. It was tied to Swift which just took a dirt nap.

[MOD EDIT]

Stay away from these places. It's unhealthy at best AND you're risking your license.

Thanks Braniff, kinda what I thought. Guy calls you a @@@ then ask you to PM him for some Kool Aid LOL. I knew the Canadians had something to do with it but I also heard the CEO from Amerijet is there now.
Nothing more than the 36th Street cyclic brain trust I guess.

Aren't they still a non union shop that competes with other DHL carriers?

They have a union, and a contract. They used to be not such a good place.
About a year and a half ago, Cargo Jet bought 25% of 21 Air and Jim Crane (guy that owns the Houston Astros) bought the remaining 75%. The place has changed a lot from how it was a few years ago.

Are you referring to small ACMI’s? Or ACMI in general?

ACMIs have their good and bad. I think anytime a carrier comes in and tries to reinvent themselves and sell themselves as new and improved, call BS!! ACMIs do not generate their own revenues for the most part and are highly subject to the downturns in the economy and their contractors profit goals. All will take a turn at the top but the wave is cyclic and they will take their turn at the bottom because the major customer base (DHL, Amazon) are not loyal, and there is always a carrier willing to lower the bar just to get a foot in the door! Southern (737), Kalitta (767), Amerijet (757) ATI (757) Swift (737), Mesa (737) all took a swing and it was a financial miss dancing with DHL, so they left the game. The secret sauce, the carrier must be diversified.

21Air Pay scale

Anyone one have a copy of the pay scale?

feelthebern 09-19-2024 08:00 AM

I hear rumors of 21 Air getting amazon 767s, but I also hear ABX is supposed to get the remaining 10 from Atlas on top of the 10 they already got. Anyone know what's up?
