I appreciate the thought, but I really don't want a "pass." As I've said before, I believe we need the best volunteers we can find to fill the positions, and that's who I'll vote for. If you find a better Block Rep, vote for him -- I will, too. If you find a better MEC Chairman, I'll vote for him. Nothing personal -- it's business.

Recalling is easy -- finding a volunteer to fill the resultant vacancy is the hard part.

In Jeff's defense, he has participated in fashioning the LEC 22 communications -- they have been joint efforts. He gets as much credit (or blame ) as Mike and I for that. I believe you'll find his signature on the LEC 22 updates prior to my arrival as well.

Fraternally,

.

Having investigated the recall, the easiest way to make this happen is replace your block rep. Then THEY can decide who to put in the chair, vice chair, comm positions etc. DW has a posse. You gotta take out 5-6 reps to get him gone. I support new blood on the MEC, but TonyC has verbally supported DW in the past. I don't expect him to be a revolutionary.

Take notes on your block rep. Are you happy? If not--find someone to run if the vacancy is open soon. If there isn't a vacancy soon--THEN recall that rep. The process for that can be discussed at length...but probably best served AFTER the LOA vote.

My request? Give Tony (block 5) a pass for now. Ditto Jack Anzur. (block 1). Read block 8's latest letter and see what you think. Read block 7's letter (oops...when was it.....last fall?) Read the Instructor's response on the ALPA boards and decide if you think he is in touch with your ideas on the STV process.

Start making lists. WHO should go? Who isn't fighting for you? Who do you think would be a better replacement? Then calmly write the stuff down, and share it. Its YOUR union. You can make it more responsive by getting involved and doing what Herkdriver suggested. If you want a new Chairman, vice chair, etc the best way will be to bring in a new crop of block reps. Considering the angst I've seen on these boards over this LOA and the age 60 stuff I don't think that would be that tough. What concerns me more than the signature on these documents, however, are the tone of some of the responses I've seen posted and published, and the "take it or leave it @sshole" type approach initially taken by BC and last Monday's meeting. I'll say it again--if honest feedback from the people you serve chaps you so much, then perhaps its time to slide back to the line and give someone else a fresh chance. I know our team has done a fantastic job for us in the past, but sometimes a bit of turnover is good for both the individual and the organization as a whole.
Albief, hate to say it but I think you're wrong on this one. The LOA is done except for the vote. WE need to do whatever we have to to get the message out, but the MEC has made it's decision on this LOA. If you've researched the recall then you know that even if you start the process by requesting agenda items through your LEC chair, nothing can happen until the chair decides when the next meeting could be. It might be months before a LEC meeting gets scheduled. LEC 26 meets on AUG 14th so that LEC can't wait. Multitask.
