Default Cruising the Rhine

You can take it all the way to Cologne, but you will have to change boats in a town that I can't remeber the name of. The cruise was great, but you stop in a lot of towns along the way, soo it will take you a while to get to Cologne. If it's a nice day you will have a great time. Good Luck.

They may still offer the fast boat as well, but that one (rough and noisy), should be avoided unless you are in a great hurry. Take a slow one, sit outside, and relax.

Hi Sean,

Yes it is a no-brainer. Just go to the train station 3 blocks from the Mainz Hilton and buy a ticket. It is that easy. Get a first class ticket and bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the view. have fun.

Slow is the way to go, I'll have the whole day on Sunday, to get in place for my 48hr CGN layover!

I took the train. We were dhdg to CDG but went through CGN on the way. It was very easy. If you are having any anxiety about it, Manfred can hook you up with the gouge. We had a great time when I did it.

Trash is probably right. It was a fairly long train ride to CGN. A boat with changeovers...might take a long time.

Nope, no anxiety. I've done the CDG-CGN train numerous times and have no problem with the Mainz-CGN train. I have a nice Sat morning (530a)MEM-FRA dep to arrive about 9pm. After 24hrs I'm sked to DH to CGN (10p) with another 48 off before coming back to the planet Tue night. I have all day Sun (and Mon? ) to get to CGN. I'm just looking for experienced advice on the boats!
