I recall a lengthy "Cat and Dog" from a former ACP named Jim Rxxx that (at great length) explained that a pilot could use sick time when a child or spouse was sick. Then along comes an ACP named Don Mxxxxxxxx that changed all that with one email that said a pilot could only use sick time if the pilot was physically sick - period. If it is not in writing and signed by the company it is subject to change at the whim of the newest management team.

18 months is only for the 3 month STV.

Well, you can be sent over ONE time in 18 months (90 days) and the ability for the company to use the STV is only for 24 months. So the odds of anyone ever having to do this more than once is close to zero.

Why the STV, DW web said it is mainly for the CDG base. In HKG they are going to move the 5 SFS airbuses over there and they know how that is going to work. But, in CDG the company is worried about delivery dates for the 757 being on time. He said the marketing folks are over there selling the FedEx brand and this new base now, so if the 757 don't come on line on schedule they may need some help to meet contracts that will be in place. He also said within 14 months or so you'd see MD-10 in HKG and maybe CDG.

Like I said a lot of good info, but I'm still a NO.

The whole grieve it later BS won't help anyone once they are over there. I'm heading out to mil leave, but I'll check the board for updates....Thanks for anyone that can help out.

I talked to TonyC this morning about that (while he was on arpt stby and I was having my nice 4 day RF2 canx'd and thrown into a long sub window). Tony says since JL said and he was one of the company's negotiators on the LOA it will stand up. Wasn't enough for me to change my vote though!

Pretty much what I told TonyC this morning in the empty AOC. If they intend one month, put it in writing, simple pen and ink change can do it, kinda like when you make changes to a house purchase offer. He said it would take too long. I told him it would be worth it to wait!

I was there, and I went in voting NO. The only "+" sign noted on my assessment of the LOA was for the tax equalization package. I was, quite frankly, surprised by the amount of time consumed on this subject and the general ignorance of the issue. Subic will close. That good deal (sure was!) will no longer be available. Get over it and move on. Get educated on the new rules.

I can't say this happens much, but I must agree with CaptMark's evaluation (so far) of the meeting. I'll add that DW's admission early on, (in the meeting) that FDXALPA has been lacking on the Communications side, might be an indication they'll be more agressive getting the word out. Put my dues money to work! Get the membership to vote, up or down, just get 'em to vote!

The company will need help meeting a schedule and contracts that will be in place...????

Does anyone smell "LEVERAGE".....I do, I do.....vote "NO" first...then let's sit down an see how we can help the company meet these schedules and contracts with an equitable LOA!

"....it would take too long...???" For who? Is someone in a hurry here?

Perhaps, the company to get this thing signed, the bid in and folks in training for the 757?

Anyone else smelling more LEVERAGE????

...so vote yes and fix it in a few years in the contract negotiations instead of getting the same crap 3 years from now...later...
Capt Mark -

Question #1: Have you ever lived overseas? ...in Asia??

Question #2: What other issues will we be fighting for/to fix in 2010?

May I suggest, 3-5% annual pay raises, protecting our A Fund (...do you know the rest of FDX, to include Mgt, was recently switched to "Cash Balance Plans"), the right to retire with full benefits at Age 60, etc...

Question #3: Where does "fixing this substandard LOA" stack up against your responses to Question #2.

Very Respectfully,

DLax85

They can do it with SIBA if they use 2 crews per month per line.

You want to talk about it going senior. First class over and back and fly 4 days in 15

Boy, would I love to be a used car salesman in Memphis.....

With every come to Jesus meeting another half dozen no voters get swayed by the snake oil salesmen.

I've got a 1967 Ford Pinto, low miles, primo paint, driven by Your Mama to union meetings on Tuesday nights......
it's only $40,000 per year......
