I'm at the tail end of a long trip so I don't have my super secret decoder ring yet. But when I get it my vote will be

NO

By the way, I haven't talked to one person who is even close to a yes vote. At least that's what they said at the bar(s).

Lawn-Dart 07-25-2007 03:43 AM

Absolutely, Positively, I voted NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Overnitefr8 07-25-2007 11:30 AM

Does Fedex provide COLA?
Does Fedex provide an adequate housing allowance?
Does Fedex provide Tuition Assitance?
Is there a guarantee that Fedex wouldn't abuse STV?
Is this LOA adequate and Fair?

I voted NO because there was no box to check for "PUCK NO"!! Not no way, not no how ... If I'd voted YES on that P.O.S., I'd have had to moonlight scrubbing toilets in a frat house just to regain some self-esteem.

CaptainMark 07-26-2007 04:26 AM

talked to 3 guys yesterday who changed to "yes" after the STV change...and 2 who voted "yes' because they are actually wanting to go and will need the $2700...the knew about this forum and laughed..they said noone on there is going to bid it anyway...anyone else getting similar responses?

NoHaz 07-26-2007 05:13 AM

"no one on there will bid it"

sad part is many of us "on here" wanted to bid it but, it is just not workable. I feel sorry for those few that come "rumblin, stumblin" into it without much thought other than "I want that 2700"

I'm seeing 1/3 passionate "No" voters, 1/3 "not gonna vote" and 1/3 "I don't know much about it, I just skimmed the LOA once, and I guess I should support the union - Yes" voters.

It is amazes how much the "Yes" voters don't know about the LOA...and none of them seem passionate about their vote.

I think this thing might come very close to 50/50 and that's why people need to keep "getting the facts out" to the very end.

CaptainMark 07-26-2007 06:14 AM

i agree with you..a lot of us don't care about it...it's summer and they are doing family stuff..not going to bid it anyway..etc..etc..i would guess maybe 1800 total votes...but who knows?

I had "intended" on bidding an FDA.

I actually wanted to vote for the LOA (until I saw it), before I voted against it.

Since only the last vote counts anyway, the yes voters can always change to no....then they can truly say "I actually voted "For" the LOA, before I voted against it!"

Great - we have people changing their votes before they see the actual wording of the change. The company lawyers know how to word things that on the surface look like -you are getting a free BMW- what it actually says is -you are paying for the BMW but someone else gets to drive it.

Doesn't matter what they change the whole LOA needs to go and be redone- my vote is still NO!

This cracks me up. The last minute scrambling with the change to std's is exactly why we have leverage. Somebody's nervous and they're nervous for a reason; that reason is the leverage. This whole thing is a joke, but it will pass.

That seems to be the reponse I have gotten as well... The only GOOD thing I will add is that most of the DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT crowd have come back with "But I was told to vote against it.." But I still run into the 'If the Union says it is good then I should vote with the union...'

No. To the Negitiating committee:I do get emotional about being taken away from my family for 90 days. I guess you guys don't.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To those of you who vote YES on this fecal matter they call an LOA, here's something which should give you reason to consider changing your vote:

If this P.O.S. passes, the vast majority of the SFS pilots will come back to the U.S. That's 71 pilots, most of them quite senior, who will come push you down the seniority list in your seat/domicile. Still think you can vote YES on the LOA and who cares, you'll never bid it and it won't affect you?

Think about it ... 70 ... probably enough to bounce a number of you out of your SIBA bid ... or bounce you out of those lines with weekends off ... or bounce you out of your day turns where you're home every night ... or bounce you out of your double-DH trips ... you get the picture. The best thing you can do for yourself if you like the status quo is vote the LOA down and insist on a package that keeps the overseas-based pilots willing to stay there. Otherwise, we'll come back and cherry-pick the bid packs, and for a number of you, your quality of life will go all to hell.

But what the heck ... the LOA isn't going to affect you anyway ... is it?

Albief15 07-29-2007 06:18 AM

Herky,

If you notice, when you log back into APC the threads with new info are in bold. Most APC junkies will automatically dive into the new stuff and see what is being offered up for consumption.

I agree with you on many points, but the repetitious postings is annoying. I promise--if post your stuff ONCE on here (pick a thread, any thread) it will get read. When you post the same stuff on each thread you start to look like a guy hanging handbills all over the windows--it sort of dilutes the affect and gives the impression of a town crier instead of an articulate, thoughtful poster.

Nothing personal--on your side on most of this--just suggest you lighten up on the repeated posts.

Just trying to reach the most people, kiddo ... especially after finding out that the LECs weren't passing along our thoughts to their members on this.

Albie is right though. What you're doing is considered spam posting and gets deleted from most other forums I visit. I'm getting to the point when I see your name on a posting I skip it, because I've probably already seen it 3-4 times! Its now a FedEx pilot sub forum - so most of us are FedEx and all the topics are FedEx - it'll get read! Your message gets lost in your own chatter! Once is enough!

LOA Headed Toward Defeat

I'm really getting the feeling that this LOA is going to be defeated. I have met only one pilot in the last week who is voting for it. All the crew bus informal polls and folks I've flown with are adamently saying, NO!:D

Lindy 07-30-2007 08:34 AM

Wrong Crew Bus?

Sniz, I'm not so sure. I have met three individuals who VOTED yes on this topic. I asked their rational and received the following:

1. The Junior person at a company always has a terrible schedule, terrible lines, etc if he wants to be here, then he will make the sacrafice for a FDX Seniority number.

2. The Union is for it

3. I'm going to hold wide-body on the next bid and it doesn't affect me

There are many others not involved with "malcontents.com" (thanks Albie) who do not hold the opinions of those on this board.

Albief15 07-30-2007 08:47 AM

Rode "the bus" yesterday with an LAX Capt/FO and an MD11 flex.

All reported their respective groups were largely "against" the LOA.

Again--small sample sizes....

....

...but don't they realize that will mean they are now "junior" in their wide-body seat and thus susceptible to STVs...???

fedupbusdriver 07-30-2007 09:51 AM

There are a lot of guys out there that when asked by someone that they feel has one answer, will answer in the same way to avoid conflict. ie

How are you going to vote for this POS LOA?
Make sure that you are not leading them with the way the question is worded. You might get some different answers.

FDX aviator 07-31-2007 12:41 PM

I originally wanted it to pass, and I wanted to/considered bidding CDG, but sanity is sinking in.

If it's voted down, I won't be able to afford it. If it's voted in, I won't be able to afford it either.

It would be great to get 'boots on the ground', but at what expense?

The argument that rings truest to me is that I shouldn't have to subsidize the company's business. An acceptable package is THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS.

(BTW, I voted NO!) ;)

BigWatchPilot 07-31-2007 12:49 PM

I have run into a few guys this week voting YES...the only thing I can make of why is the "Yes Sir, Yes Sir...three bags full" mentality. These guys might also think that OR's job title is 'Skipper' or 'Squadron Commander'. :D
