When FedEx starts hiring again
What will be the status of the pool, if there is one, when FedEx begins hiring again? Will they be looking for pilots that are immediately available? Does anyone know if a pilot profile can be submitted now so as to ready to go when the time comes?
Prudence would seem to dictate having everything ready now with your sponsor(s) lined up for when hiring begins.
Thanks in advance.

I beliive the pool is fairly small.
Go to Pilot.fedex.com and click on Pilot Careers and see if they will accept your profile. Costs $50 so my bet is yes.
Most important thing for fedex (after meeting basic quals) is Pilot Recommendations.

With JS, JL, GD, and now DM moving out of mgt into the line, I have to wonder what the status is of anyone who did a M&G with those guys.
Anyone interested better be lining up sponsors.
No crystal ball--but one pontential outcome if the LOA is voted down is some of the slots are filled with new hires. Tough duty without the extra cash (tough duty with it...) but it might be ticket onto the team.
Should be a clearer picture in about 30 days...

In all seriousness, keep the app. updating going as I know they look at that when they are going through boards to select pilots for interviews. Everyone points at FE numbers to say how overstaffed we are now, but I still got called 3 times for draft my last 3 weeks off. Must be the ANC fishing season sickness.
And remember, if the interview call comes, check out emerald coast for prep. OK Albie, send me the 10 bucks you promised.

If you vote down the LOA, and they open the doors to newhires, is this going to put you in the Scab category? I've been sitting at ASA for 10 years and FED EX is the only place that's going to pry me off my position on the seniority list, but I won't do it if it going to hurt the pilot group as a whole.
Opinions???

Not at all. In fact, to their credit, I think some of the ALPA guys actually give a $hit and don't want you guys over there starving. However--the flip side to the tough first year IF this LOA fails and IF they hire guys right over there is that you'll get here sooner and your second year you should be okay. With no 100 mile rule in CDG and (perhaps) some Subic like commutable lines in HKG, a few trip trades here and there and you can probably make it work.
Resentment from anyone here? No way. Just best wishes on a tough first year.
Last I heard we had about 40 in the pool. I'm sure if they pull those guys and gals out they'll be looking for experience similiar to what they did when they hired VFR direct into Anchorage.
And all of this, BTW...is 100% conjecture. There are a LOT of moving parts right now at FDX with the LOA, the -10 displacement bid, age 60 potential changes, and some recent turnover in flight management. Glad I'm just a line toad right now and not responsible for figuring all this stuff out...
