Message from the Communications Committee (Courtesy of Captain xxxxxx)

The information below is being provided to explain the two options available to crew members regarding the FDA LOA. Please take the time to review it carefully.

What we will have if the LOA is voted down:

The same CBA Section 6 Relocation Expenses that we have now (3 year commitment, no Tax Equalization, no inverse seniority, however, company may hire to fill Hong Kong/Paris vacancies.)

What we will have if the LOA is voted in:

A crew member will be able to choose one of the following:

The same CBA Section 6 Relocation Expenses that we have now (3 year commitment) plus Federal Tax Equalization

OR

Enhanced Option (2 year commitment) including:

1) Tax Equalization
2) $10,000 (tax-free) seed money
3) $5,000 (tax-free) service credit after 4 years as active pilot
4) $4,000/year (tax-free) storage reimbursement
5) $2,700/month (tax-free) rental allowance
6) $1,300/month (tax-free) homeowner allowance
7) $250/day (tax-free) hotel allowance for the first 30 days
8) One roundtrip ticket for pilot and dependents
9) One roundtrip ticket/year after 2nd year
10) Shipment of 500 lbs; over 3,000 lbs back
11) Ability to down-bid or lateral-bid into the FDA without an 18 month restriction
12) Allows for Special Temporary Vacancies, as well as Inverse Assignment during initial start-up (with restrictions), which will help ensure this is a profitable venture for the company and provide long-term security for us.

Plus, Attachment A to the LOA which reinforces the Railway Labor Act provisions covering all FedEx crew members assigned/awarded an FDA in Hong Kong/Paris. This further strengthens our position that all future expansion/flying will be done by pilots on the FedEx Pilots Master Seniority list. This is an important component of the LOA. Do not overlook the future implications of this LOA. The Hong Kong/Paris flying is going to happen. Either pilots currently on our seniority list will do it or someone else will. If the company is forced to hire someone else to do the flying and they are added to the bottom of our list, your seniority has not changed. You may not see any seat progression as a result of this hiring. Remember, seniority is not how many are below you on the list...seniority is how many are in front of you. If the company must hire pilots to do the flying that results from international expansion, the only way your seniority will improve is through death or retirements.

Even if you do not intend to bid for the FDA, your vote is important! These bases will not attract all pilots. What may not be attractive to you may very well appeal to another. To vote "NO" because it doesn't appeal to you is to deny the "Enhanced Option" move package for someone who does want to bid for the FDA.

Regardless of your position, please take the time to vote on this issue.

Wow! I guessed Sec/Treas, ladies at the front desk and the night janitor, but I never suspected the Comm Chair slipping an email in under the radar!

These aren't the 'droids we're looking for...

You can move along...

I'm going to change my vote now...

I am sooo tired of the senior ALPA minnions trying to put out last minute propaganda trying to convince the un-educated to follow them blindly down the slope of FDA purgatory. Give it a rest ALPA dudes.....you are choking on your caca sandwich........................................

I'm with Hamfisted.

Your "Captain" XXXX is lying through his teeth, knowing you'll post his BS on this board, and try to scare one or two more people into voting Yes.

It ain't going to work.

Current CBA Recognition Clause:
A. 2. The Company further recognizes that included in the craft or class represented by the Association in conformity with the RLA are those crewmembers on Foreign Duty Assignment (“FDA”), Special International Bid Award (“SIBA”) and/or any other international assignment, domicile or location manned by pilots on the Federal Express Master Seniority List

Attachment A, #7:
7. I shall continue to be a member of the class or craft of flight deck crewmembers of Federal Express currently represented by ALPA pursuant to the Railway Labor Act. ALPA will continue to act as my exclusive bargaining representative during my time at the CDG FDA and/or the HKG FDA.

This tactic is truly bordering on embarrassing.
