Good Turnout

Glad the turnout was high....shows that folks do care. Lesson for the union leadership has to be better polling prior to and communication during negotiations.

Will be interesting to see how quick the bid comes out and how folks bid for HKG and CDG.

PurpleDriver - you said it!

Whether you like it or not...it's here for the duration of the CBA.

I'm very happy about the participation. Like someone else said, "Let's focus on the "Optimizer".....sounds like the name of the next Arnold movie. :)

FDA Pilots - take good notes...we'll need them in the next round of CBA negotiations.

Man, the company must be creaming in their drawers right now. VIPS is down they are in such a hurry to get this info out on the website.

Not sure of the importance, but an interesting stat.

Now I need to make sure I have enough sick days built up for my STV month...did I say that or think that....

But this issue, along with other recent events, makes me question my confidence in the MEC. Next vote for my rep will be based on a litmus test of LOA, Age 60, and VEBA.
This LOA rewards older, empty-nest pilots looking for one more fling before they turn 65. The younger pilots hoping to upgrade to a wide-body seat can fly all the STV trips they want from Nov to Jan and a few choice months during Typhoon season.
Take a good look at the great pairings in the Aug and Sep bid packs. Now that the company knows that we'll fly disputed pairings no matter how bad they make them and we'll work more for less, future bids packs may not look so good.
This LOA is far from a stepping stone to a better CBA in the future. It is more like the first step onto a plank in shark infested waters. Hang onto your hats boys and girls.

True. Real accountability folks.

All this means is the MEC starts with 30% of the vote. To defeat anything you need more then a grass roots campaign. To defeat crap like this you need to have representatives that are accountable to constituants.

So we should all get behind it, behind what? It is part of the CBA. There are no other choices. At least we will see the company's hole cards now, that should be good for a laugh. Best of luck to those that bid it or are forced to go.

All in favor of giving up half your raise in the next CBA for FDA Schooling say Aye.

Well, it wasn't anything I wanted to see by the way of voting, but if it is what the majority wanted. I can only hope that what DW said at the meetings holds true about them negotiating for better for those guys.

On a side note, when the next bid comes out, now I may consider downbidding back to the 72 so I don't catch the "STV"

Not what I wanted but I'm happy to see the large voter turn out. It's also nice to see ALPA supporting the democratic process and the majority opinion once again...

As far as the future bid, I hope they get enough takers because I'm still not going to bid it. May have to hang out in the 72 a little longer to avoid the whole STV thing; of course, they'll probably have an excess bid if that's the case and force me to move.

Congrats on the "incremental gains" and best of luck living as a "bon vivant" in the FDA's until the next CBA...

Thanks to everyone involved who got the STVs reduced/clarified so that they are limited to 30 days.

Time to shut up and color. Coloring books and crayons, CHECK! Change standing bid, CHECK! Get ready to buy Tony C's crew dinner at the Cracker Barrell, CHECK!

Good turnout. Hope the MEC honors its promises to A) strive to improve the pacakge in the next negotiations and B) keeps the STV options from being abused by management.

Sun did appear to come up this morning, just as promised...

:D Wonder how many "yes" votes were just afraid BC was going to beat them up?
