Feel sorry for the FO's in Paris. Good luck whoever you are. Hope you can get a part-time job while you are based there. You'll need one.

Listen closely

If you listen closely, you can hear the tinkling of glasses and the sounds of matches being struck to light cigars in an executive suite with a smoking room....the smell of wet India Ink on a bonus check....more heady than the smell of purple mimeograph paper in middle school.... an old fashioned brass key with an extravagant fob (fits the door of the Executive Washroom) changing hands......

Somewhere in Washington, (Herndon)......an MEC Chairman from one of a number of regional airlines, ponders this development while reading the add for the Mesa Pilot positions in China.....realizing that a whole bunch of flying was secured for thousands of young American Pilots willing to work for pennies on the dollar under RLA.....thus securing his position.....breathes a sigh of relief.

I was always worried about cheap Chinese pilots....now I realize it's going to be us!

Yeap Year 2 Widebody CAP/FO payrates respectively in HKG
$ 234.00/ hr and 148.00.

Yeap I am sure that MESA MEC chairman would be disgusted.

It's over, move on

Maybe we can make improving the FDA a cornerstone in the next contract. Just like QOL was for this one. Anyone in the Boeing or Airbus can vouch that the latest bid packs have improved QOL. Scope was a cornerstone too. But now it is even better than before with the LOA.

Lack of sleep brings out the sarcasm.

fdxmd11fo 08-10-2007 09:40 AM

Do you want to try and fix the FDA'd for 200 guys in 3 years or do you want to shore up retirement for all 4800 of us. This is the way it is going to go during the contract talks. IMHO I don't want to trade any capital to improve the FDA's for 200 guys. We should have done it now when it won't cost us something in other areas of our contract.

Redeye,

You're right, the majority has spoken and I am part of the group. I have already dressed-right, and am singing in unison to the cadence.

I don't have to like it.

Actually, I am sure that a lot of people at other airlines are thrilled because they got RLA precedent, and they don't have to Bid an FDA with substandard compensation. It's a win for every other American pilot.....cept maybe the poor guys who have to finance the expansion of this company....that's all I was saying........FedEx is poised to make a lot of cash.....that's good.....I am sure the architects of this plan in the company are being rewarded appropriately, they did a good job doing what's best for the company.

Yeah, that's what I said to you old geezers after the original Age 60 vote last year.....both about the vote, and your careers.....see what that got me.

I am more interested in the retirement plan (in whatever form it may take) in the future negotiations. QOL is also high on the list. As is scheduling improvements (have you seen the domestic bid packs lately??). VEBA. (Should it be modified or deleted??).

There is not any room in the negotiating capital I want to spend to "fix" the LOA FDA.

I think this will be echoed the closer we come to contract negotiations.

The only question is, how many other FDAs will be opened before the amendable date of our contract (and where)?

There should be some room to negotiate in the next CBA, maybe change STV back from once every 6 months to once every 14 months, that way redeye may get a chance to play. (Ever find out why it changed sleepy?)

Seriously if we dump STV they will have to improve the FDAs, but time will tell.
