Thanks for the excellent post, it gave the information that I was looking for. The Pros and Cons were exactly what I was looking at and wanted an insiders view. The 7 on would just be too much for my family. I hear it when I have to go out of town for 4 days right now, 7 is out of the question. Thank you again and fly safe.

where do you live. If it is in a city that Astar flys to then you would only be "gone" for the commute into the hub. Not sure if you though about that angle. ABX has a lot of pilots that fly to their home city. They are home every day and on the weekends.

The big question is if they fly a 72 into the city you live in. If so you might consider that option......

Right now I live in the Toledo/DTW area. I didn't even think about that idea of flying to the home city. My airline doesn't fly into my hometown, so never even considered that. I'm pretty sure the only flights into DTW are DC-8 though, so not sure if it would help out that much. It does give a very interesting idea though.

I again want to thank everyone who gave advice. It is very helpful, both the pros and cons. Best information I've ever recieved. Thank you again.

How long would the drive be from TOL/DTW to ILN. Its reasonable close from what I remember. Since you are already in the area maybe consider a move a little closer to ILN.....maybe Dayton or Columbus. That should keep you pretty close to home plus get you out of Detroit!

Drive from DTW to ILN according to Google is 4 hrs. Not sure of Astar's call out times. ABX has a 2 hour call out for reserves so DTW would not work. Dayton, Columbus or anything within a reasonable 2 hour window would be do-able.

Whatever you choose good luck.......
