Purple, the Marine Mafia?
I've heard from others that Purple is made up of many former Marines. Is this true, and how many other pilots come from different branches? Mainly former officers and some former enlisted? Being I'm in E-5 in Army, and hope to one day be a part of purple, I don't want to be looked at differently because Army is the St. Bernard of the military (large, and slow!).

Jsf,
I just looked for the FedEx hiring requirements ... can't seem to find them right now? But for sure a 4 year college degree is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED! I notice you say you're an enlisted Army guy and as a former military officer I know that "some" enlisted personnel have college degrees.
Most (maybe all?) of the good flying jobs will require a 4 year degree. Make that a BIG priority now if you think you would would like to get into this business. Good luck with your career plans ...

What Mark said.
There are all kinds here, but pretty much everyone likes to make fun of the Marines.
Seriously, bottom line is, no one cares what your background is as long as you can fly the airplane. We have our fair share of former Army guys here, as well as Civilian, USAF, USMC, USN, and USCG.
Good luck! Stick with it. See you in a few years.

JsfBoat,
It's a out and out lie. There are no more than 20 Marines on the Purple Property. We all know that because that's as high as any Marine can count without unzipping his fly. Besides, as long as you speak very slowly, with a Southern drawl, everyone will think you're a Marine anyway.
In order to help you with your quest for employment at FedEx, and at the same time, to understand the different services a little better, may I recommend you click on the following link.

Marines at FedEX....what Marines? I've been here over 11 years and it seemed when I got hired, we did hire more ex military. But now we hire folks from all backgrounds, civillian and military. I had an FO in the sim with me last week that was a former Army helo guy that got his fixed wing time flying C-12s. I wouldn't worry about how you get your quals, just get them and hopefully you know someone here that will give you his/her reccomendation. It can't be that hard....they did hire me and TonyC.
