A number of our MD-11s DO have sleepers, required for double crewed flights (> 12hrs).

And, I beleive, that the company will save major $$ on the whole "deal", increasing overall revenues.. Article sounds like it was written by someone that bought a bunch of UPS stock, believing the hype surrounding it when it first came out....

The uniform of yours is hardly "free". You just pay for it in other ways...

Default uniform

ptarmigan...

Enlighten us how we do pay for our uniforms again? Only thing I've ever paid for was shoes or boots...company gives us everything else.

Ok, well after 4 airlines this is the first time ever I didn’t see any money taken out of my pay check in order for me to get my uniform - so in my view it is "free". Of course, you have to be on the payroll in order to get it so I guess the price for it is that I have to work...

I know what you're trying to say (I think) - that nothing in this world is truly free. I’m not that deep though, I’m just looking at my pay stub deductions, that’s all…

Thanks for all replies on purple jumpseat accommodations. Good to know if I ever need a ride and y'all are kind enough to take me. Cheers.

>>>>>>>>How about when we ride a company jumpseat to Europe or Asia rather than getting a ticket, or whenever we're awarded a flying line with trip credit greater than 75 hours and not paid anything over our regular hourly rate to do it. Our contract is full of examples of how we're paying for our free uniforms.

Default free uniforms

oldfr8dog...

You sound very bitter...you think that if we payroll deducted our uniforms the company would fix those perceived inequities? And btw, what airline besides jetblue contractually provides overtime pay for line credit above guarantee? Yes, life could be better but as a glass half empty kind of guy, you will never be happy with any contract. And in regards to commercial tickets, why do we have guys jumpseating on ups instead of using the commercial tix they rate?

I'm not sure what your ideal airline is, but I don't think it exists. Name me one place that you would be happier working...

I'm not bitter at all. UPS is a great place to work but Nirvanna doesn't exist. I wouldn't trade places with anyone in this industry. A problem with this medium is that tones can be misconstued. I feel very blessed to be wearing brown/black/whatever it is. My only point is that there's no such thing as "free" anything and there's room for improvement in our contract. Glass half empty?!? That hurts!
