I work with a couple guys who worked for CAT ( custom air transport) and where lucky to scape with no violations. I gues you could go no lower than that, that's what they say, and have very compelling stories to back that argument.

bottom line, you are better off leaving the industry if CAT is you only optiion.

They contract with Menlo, which was recently purchased by UPS. I've heard rumors that the browntails are taking over their routes sometime next year.

Well my cousins girl friends brother in law ex- wife said....BLA BLA BLA!!!
Any job is what you make of it and every senority list has 5% of dirtballs that you wonder how they got there. I used to work for CAT and had no problems or violations. I did my job and the company treated me fairly. 2 weeks on/off, an airline ticket to and from home and the checks always cleared on time. I never carried more than 1 dmi and it was usally fixed that day. What do people expect from a non-sched freight company? Its old school flying, you do more with less, get the job done and don't whine to the chief pilot that the captain was mean to you. You just take the good with the bad and drive on till you get your time and a better job. I think FE's start at 45/hr, FO's 55/hr and Capt 85/hr. or go to a regional and start at 20 and sit airport reserve in some crew room. No they are not Fed EX, UPS, or DHL you know that going in so do not expect the pay, benefits or schedules. With 8000 plus pilots furloughed, I know alot of people who would give up selling cars and flipping burgers to fly again.

Default Trijetter... more info please?

Trijetter

I got on CAT's webpage, but most of their links were under construction or not working... do you have any info on minimums, and where to send an application? Also do you know if they use a military conversion factor?

Thanks again for your time and help.

Custom Air Transport, 4101 Ravenswood Rd. Suite 101A, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. Tommy Duckworth is the D.O. Sorry I don't have their phone number anymore. I am not Sure what their mins are but you can't win if you don't enter.

Thumbs down

Bengalsfan...you said it yourself...most of their links are under construction or not working...what do you think their jets are like?

I worked there for almost a year, and it is exactly as described above...leave the industry if this is your only option...

"Management" (such as it is) definitely plays favorites, and any Captain who grounds an a/c for a good reason usually has to go down to FLL for "bad boy class". The favorites are the Captains who don't care about their licenses or their lives...

They had a 100 hr time in type Captain drag the wingtip in El-Paso a while back...I've got over 6,000 hrs PIC on the 727 and I can promise you that's extremely hard to do...is this the kind of guy you want to be flying with?

Despite what trijet says, you can forget about home basing in the true sense of the word...they'll fly you out of the airport cheapest for them...I often had to drive three hours to Miami or FLL even though RSW is only 10 minutes from my home...and once they get you on the road, they've got you...if they need you to stay out because someone else wised up and walked...guess who's not going home?

Maint is lousy, management sucks, and an FAR violation is only a flight away...

My advice...stay away....
