MD11 Trips Frozen

What is up with all those xtra and Charter MD11 trips frozen?

There just seems to be alot of them and just wondering if that is allowed by our CBA to keep them frozen.

They belong to charters until they release them. Apparently, charters wanted to make sure they would go before they released them. They are now out. BTW, UAB is Incirlik AB,Turkey and HNH is the old Hahn AB, Germany.

It is allowed in the CBA, all it really says is that CRS may "freeze" trips for assignment by them. No limits or reasons, they just can....

Did all those xtra trips get released and assigned? seems there is alot of open time available now.

yes, all but a few are released from frozen status and most picked up already.

It was an epic feeding frenzy, much more exciting than open time night! Of course I was not quick enough on the trigger, but it was good entertainment...

How many mgmt pilots "picked" up these trips?

Yes it was! The anticipation was sky high and as far as I can tell almost all of these trips were picked up for make up. Maybe one or two were trip trades but it looks like the company got almost everyone to fly extra at straight pay on these money makers! Not that there is anything wrong with that! Our CBA does allow it. I would just love to get some of the bonus money the bean counters get when they have pilots who fly 20+ days a month all without a drop of OT. Gordon Gecko has nothing on some of our pilots! Well there's 3 more FZN CHTRS out there now. Any bets as to whether they get flown at make up or not? I can read my notification now..Your swap with open flying time, reference number URFCKD, was DISSAPPROVED because we got someone else to fly it at straight make up pay during their days off instead. LOL.. It is entertaining though..

Unfortunately, trips paid at draft are far and few between. With sick call trips being visible and folks picking many of them up, there isn't that many trips left for reserves. Reserves will end up with the ugly trips or ones that come up last minute. There has been tons of guys flying extra now, but the novelty will wear out eventually. I don't have a problem with guys picking up extra if they choose. It is amazing how many people must sit at their computer staring at Vips all day long....

There are also plenty of reserves, since many of the later secondary lines are reserve lines. Reserve has been pretty good, but the trip quality is terrible.

I thought that same thing, 20 years ago.
