China RVSM Procedures

Just finished watching Air America while painting inside the house. Remember when Mel and the other guy were coloring comicbooks in the back of the plane. That's what management must think we do.
Hey stay inside the line and you can't color the sky green.............

This is another half baked, half thought out, half a$$ed "patch" fix by the "non line flying" ivory tower dwellers in standards. Instead of considering the Safety issues already in play in China, they promugate a proceedure which will only exacerbate communication, proceedure, and performance errors. Where is the Safety department on this? Hello....anyone? Bueler....Beuler? Silent and asleep at the switch as usual. Feet to meters, back to feet.......and a timed guess......hmmmm........someones going to get rich with a 'failure to provide a safe working enviornment/guidance' lawsuit based on due diligence. See you in Beijing!
I was told that it wasn't a "half a$$ed" fix, it's the way the Chinese want it. They talked with ALL MD-11 operators and NOBODY but us had a problem with the procedure. That's World, EVA, Lufthansa, UPS and anybody else that drives one of these in China. So, if YOU have a better idea, submit it...I am pretty sure that if it's reasonable and works, they'll look at it. Would you rather tool along below FL290 on L-888 cuz you don't want to play the Chinese game? Better break out "into thin air" and read aloud, you may need the survival techniques. Or perhaps you would just opt to have FedEx pull out of China all together...yeah, that makes sense.
Instead of griping...submit your ideas. Not one message in here offered any options to fix the problem that the CHINESE are mandating on all operators in their airspace.
IMO.....

Let's see... we've got this neat button on our glareshield that makes this problem go away and increases our safety margin by about a thousand percent. But we can't use it because other aircraft don't have it.
Maybe we should turn off our EGPWS or predictive windshear equipment too....
What about this solution: we toggle over to meters and tell the Chinese to get out of our cockpits. Otherwise this is only the beginning. Wait till they find out we occasionally hand-fly approaches.
Can you imagine us changing our cockpit procedures to this extent for American ATC?
