Are most of the current ALPA reps the same ones who were FPA reps?

Let us not forget how useful ALPAs costing models are in case we ever have to negotiate a contract or a LOA. Where would we be without them?

THROW ALPA OUT!!!!![/quote]

P3, as a reference, are you a dues paying member?

Yes, I am. That's what makes reading all the dissatisfaction with ALPA so frustrating...to think I'm paying my hard earned money to this organization that can't get it right.

In my past work life, an organization that misrepresents the truth, fails to perform due diligence, hides certain poor apsects of a contract, and takes a position contrary to its membership or client would be fired, and most likely sued.

Reading these boards in their totality gives one the sense that there is a collective grave dissatisfaction with the union. I think it's time to seek representation elsewhere.

I understand your frustration, I'm in the same boat. But I don't blame ALPA national for our problems, its our current elected that I have issues with. I feel they are disconnected and out of touch with the majority interests of pilots on property. I don't want throw out the union, I just want fresh blood in the key positions.

Right.

If you don't think the problem is with the membership...Then, explain the FPA contract being passed by 83%, the ALPA contract by 90+% and the latest, the FDA-LOA passing by 68%.

How about the embarrassing low turnout for recalls? On both sides.

Look around you, my friend. Look at open time. Look for the DPs. You think ALPA national is the problem?

WAKE UP!!!

Back to the thread. When the company administrates a pilot force by FCIF(think FCH), they retain the option of revoking the deposit allowance by another FCIF after the bid is closed. Any benefit should be negotiated with the NC, whether it is an enhancement or not! This is BS.

BusBoy:

Notwithstanding your point concerning some members' aberant behavior, the membership has been trying to hold together "in unity" with the NC and the Reps. When the Reps and NC ENCOURAGE us to vote for what turns out as a substandard Contract and the grossly deficient LOA because "that's the best we're going to get" (Read: we're done negotiating on your behalf), then it's time to find an organization that will fight the good fight.

Cargo Pirate is correct in implying that, once again, the ALPA Reps have failed us by telling us they're done negotiating, while entertaining the company's direct appeal to the membership who aren't bidding the FDA's. What the company gives, the company can take away, unless it's negotiated and adopted in writing. It's more doublespeak from ALPA: "Trust us...vote yes..we've got your six covered."

I want to see some of the ALPA bubba's, take one of the senior STV's and show that they will do what they said during the roadshows...as they promised me and others..."you have nothing to worry about, it will go senior, "

I seriously doubt, those 11 folks will go to HKG in right seat. That will just abuse the bottom 200 folks for the first year and a half while they get the purple eggrolls hired, trained, and moved over. Look at how junior these practice bids are going for the bus right seat...almost as junior as the 75.

AA, I'm one of the few who voted no. I went to the roadshow, wrote my block rep, etc, and yeah, I'm gonna end up getting sent over. I hope the company does right by as many people as possible, but I would like to see the union get something in writing for us. We could all gripe about this, like we did before the vote, we lost, but if it can be better for any of us, I'm all for it.

I hope that the union can fix this, because, as I see it, it's broken if ONE person has to get STV'd. If I would have known this two years ago, I may not have bid the way I did, and honestly I am thinking of bidding back to the 72 so I don't have go...

It is really going to be interesting to see what is going to happen. I hope that people in the 63% who voted yes, do the right thing and bid it. I don't think it's a great deal in any way shape or form, but there are going to be some upset families, mine included, when people get shipped out for a month, and oh that great perk of getting a coach ticket for their family...well how many folks with kids do you see coming to HKG for a month to stay in a hotel room...on international per diem.
