This is the kind of BS I don't like hearing about. I have a friend at United who has wanted to come here for almost 3 years but I've been told no meet-n-greets unless they are not on the master seniority list at another major carrier. I made several inquiries and always was told the policy would have to change or my friend would have to resign from United in order to get an interview with FedEx.
In the Civil Service world if you did was Tractor Bob apparently witnessed, unfair hiring practices, it would cost you your job.

Another way, if one really wants to fly a purple jet, and have a small (very small, nice benefits though) source of income while furloughed or waiting for the hiring window, is to get on as a FedEx Express employee moving boxes. There is a one year minimum of work before the applying can start. Once the year wait is over, one would be able (barring warning letters) to apply either to the school house, the corporate flight dept, or the line. It is my understanding, that if one did this and met the hiring requirements, that one would essentially be guaranteed an interview for said position. I have met some guys who did this very thing, very cool.

Remember, there has been a change of SCPs since hiring ended. I would expect the new SCP to review the "not hiring legacy" folks policy. The previous policy (swiss cheese as it was) was apparently JL's.
