Default Hiring

Heard a rumor purple doesn't hire legacy guys. I though it was just furloughed legacy guys. Anyone have any info on if either of those are true?

Chuck, I haven't heard that one. I've flown with former legacy guys on many occasions. Send in an app when the window re-opens if this is where you might want to end up. Good luck to you.

The whole not hiring legacy guys or furloughed legacy guys was a JL thing. We are still waiting on OR's new hiring guidelines. This new bid could force the issue, but short of hiring to fill the FDAs, it's going to be a while. The word in the schoolhouse is that hiring will be flat thru 08. That could change, but don't' count on it.

Old policy was no legacy unless your were furloughed. Current policy, you and your sponser need to see "O" face to face IF we start hiring again.

It looks like for the HKG FO slots, we might not be to picky on the hiring!

I was a furloughed legacy guy when I got hired. In my new-hire class were 3 non furloughed legacy guys who resigned on our first day at FDX. One was a captain at United. Seems like even under JL non-furloughed guys were getting picked up.

Good luck, TB

This is the kind of BS I don't like hearing about. I have a friend at United who has wanted to come here for almost 3 years but I've been told no meet-n-greets unless they are not on the master seniority list at another major carrier. I made several inquiries and always was told the policy would have to change or my friend would have to resign from United in order to get an interview with FedEx.

In the Civil Service world if you did was Tractor Bob apparently witnessed, unfair hiring practices, it would cost you your job.

I'm asking cuz I have a friend who was just hired at Continental but has always wanted to fly purple, so I gather that he may have hurt his chances by leaving his regional and getting on with a major? Does anyone know the rational behind that policy?

I doubt if he hurt his chances too much. It is not what you know...

If the guy really wants to be here, if he is persistent, if we are hiring, and if he has some good sponsors (or one very good sponsor), I'll bet he could be hired.
