What activities occur before the bid closes?

Let's see - a delay of 24 hours would put the bidpacks coming out after close of business on Friday. Maybe they all wanted to be out of the offices just in case someone hasn't viewed the "Violence in the Workplace" video

At the union meeting on Tuesday, the SIG guy said that now that have cranked up the "Domestic Solve" (optimizer) on the 727 and Airbus, that the MD-11 is next. Maybe they really are waiting until after close of business Friday?
Or ... maybe the December bid month came up by surprise this year, yeah that's it. They were too busy dealing directly with the pilots about the rental deposits to have the bid packs ready on time?

Delayed due to huge number of disputed pairings
From Vic Liberti
The situation is so bad now that the SIG initially disputed 114 MEM MD11 lines for December! Let me repeat that -114 lines! The Company agreed to fix some of them, and some further compromises may be achieved as time goes on. But nevertheless, whatever the eventual outcome (and I'm sure the Company will do some fancy footwork to keep this information from surfacing), this should be a clear wakeup call to all as to what is transpiring and unchecked, what can happen in the future.
