Fedex99999,

Reread my post, just past the comma and the part you left out when you quoted me. I said he can only expense the hotel up to the contrat rate.

I haven't done a mid trip dev in a long time, but one thing scheds and ACP wanted was that all crew members were deviating in order to keep the crew together. Not sure if that is the case anymore.

it is still the case, but.....

if you're on an RFO trip you ARE the "entire crew", so it's not a problem.

if you're not the RFO, there's still a possibility that the ACP (through the FOX system) may approve only 1 of the 2 of you (by yourself) to mid-trip deviate.....all you can do in that case is ask, and have a good story as to why you want to do it - the ANC guys have been pretty flexible about approving if you have a legit reason (don't know about MEM/LAX.) - why would the other guy want to stay in DEL vs. DXB anyway??

and, 3. if you weren't planning on using your bank for something else entirely later/earlier, then it would be WELL worth spending all your bank to stay in DXB vs. DEL for ANY amount of time....JMHO.

it's really not that hard to pull it off with a little persistence and determination (esp. if it's an RFO trip for you)

I had an FO mid trip deviate PVG to HKG without me. Scheds just wanted to make sure I knew and had a contact for him if anything came up. So it looks like they are no longer requiring the entire crew to deviate together.

When I was an FO, I would always go through my Capt first, if he said okay and wanted to go to great. If not, and he approved, I would make sure he had contact info for me/itinerary. And that's all I'd ask of my FOs now that I'm in the left seat.

So,once you submit the preapproval, are you waiting for an approval email, or do you just go ahead and set up your plan B?
