Default Vacation question

Paid vacation is paid vacation, right? So, if I want MAX $$$, bid a line that does not conflict with my vacation days, that way I'll get paid for a line AS WELL AS my vacation, right?

If I want more days off, then bid a line that conflicts with vacation days, right?

True...kinda. The company will only buyback a MAX of 40% of your total available vaction hours for the year.

Go to VIPS --> Activities --> Bank balances

Check your Vacation bank max buyback.

If you want max $$$ only have your vacation conflict with a small trip and then fly the rest.

Thanks PT. So, that buyback figure...should I target a line/trip that equals that number...for max $$$?

My personal opinion is to use all of your Vacation Bank that you can. You get the money in your pocket now, as opposed to letting the company sit on it until the end of the year. You can always fly DFT/VLT/MU on your days off if you want to maximize your $$$. Or work another job, beg on the street, plunder and loot...whatever you fancy.

If you have a 100 hours and max buy back is 40 hours use or lose 60 hours. You only get paid for trips you conflict with.

The company will buy back 40% of your vacation each year, assuming no other variables like vacation cancellations. The max buy back is the number of hours that equals 40% of your total vacation hours for the year.

To maximize your earnings, use up 60% of your vacation, leaving the other 40% in your bank till the end of the year, and then they will pay you for those hours.

Sorry, I'm still confused. If my line pays...say 78 hours...and I have vacation that does not conflict with trips that pays 12 (make math easy), do I not get paid 90 hours that month?

No you only use vacation when it conflicts with a trip. No conflict no vactaion use. A 78 hour line will pay 78 hours. How much of that is vacation depends on how much you conflict. December is a bad time to figure this out. But, you can blame it on Bush.

No problem, if you have a problem using vacation this year talk to your ACP. If you had a vaction during traing the rules change.
