The more I think about it, there better be no way in h*ll the union allows them to change the contract to allow a displacement to an FDA w/out....
- adequate housing allowance for anyone with children
- significantly increased weight allowances similar to military field grade officers
- child education cost @ 100%
- a COLA mechanism
- better family travel benefits
- etc, etc, etc...
Mgt, and our MEC, told us the FDAs under the LOA were NOT designed for everyone. If you don't like the terms simply don't bid it....and sure enough that's why even the very junior in the back of the 727 didn't bid them because it simply wouldn't work for their families.
Come on, if the union agreed to such a thing you'd be basically forcing a pilot to go over their solo to keep his job/seniority.
Wow ---- then the joke would become, "Hey, ya know what's worse then a 30-day non-vol STV to an FDA that these junior guys were whining about?"
Answer: "....a 3-5 year non-vol tour in an FDA?"
Thought I left all of this type of talk behind when I retired from the military.
