It is easy to see that if junior pilot, Bill, possesses the same basic skillset as senior pilot, Mike, yet is working for half of Mike's pay, company executives can easily make overtures to the junior pilot that will cause division between the two.
We (our profession) have lived this at BNF, CAL, DAL, USAir, etc.. Where in the world have you been?
I suggest that you grow up and represent yourself as a professional rather than an anonymous name-caller. No one respects that.
As I have stated, the answers are not to be found within ALPA, no matter how much you wish for it. ALPA is a closed unit with no interest in hearing new ideas. It is almost totally reactive and, because it has no guiding principles, it ends up being detested by people on both sides of the issues. If you like what you see in ALPA and you don't mind continuing to damage your profession, by all means, keep doing the same thing over and over again under the ALPA banner...and expect different results.
Sincerely,
Bob

rjlavendar is not a union member and does not pay dues, therefore I skip over his comments.
We were told that we probably couldn't make agency shop retroactive in the last contract. I'm thinking we put it in the next contract and let the lawyers figure it out. We already pay 2% to keep lawyers on retainer why not let non union guys pay for lawyers to fight.

RJ,
I agree with you on this one. But being "professional" also requires being part of "our" solution, not part of the problem. So until you are a member no one will respect anything you have to say.... no matter how correct or thought out. Join and I'll listen to you...stay on the outside and you're just annoying noise....

I love comments like this as they prove the "lack of awareness" point that I have made several times. It appears quite wide-spread among members of this board. How about this statement:
It is easy to see that if junior pilot, Bill, possesses the same basic skillset as senior pilot, Mike, yet is working for half of Mike's pay, company executives can easily make overtures to the junior pilot that will cause division between the two.

[quote=FoxHunter;293932]Good thing for FH that all the medical records are in order, history, x-rays, MRI, Doctors notes, operating report, video from the inside of my shoulder.
FH, I don't think there is a single soul here that doesn't believe you really have a shoulder injury. Everyone here knows you are far too clever to not have backup documentation on that. The question, of course, is, when did this injury occur? Six months prior to your 60th birthday? One year? two years? Just as sure that I am that you have the injury, I'm absolutely positive that you didn't get it in the few days between your 60th birthday and the start of your DC-10 S/O class. So.....how long did you sandbag this thing? Just like the question I asked you regarding your current pay rate, I don't really expect an answer. BTW...when you refer to yourself in the third person, you remind me of "Jimmy" on Seinfeld.

AA,
So you think that we don't have other guys who need: foot surgery, elbow surgery, shoulder surgery, etc, etc, that have not been suffering for a while with it, but just, for whatever reason, didn't seem to have the time to have it taken care of? Would you have been happier if he had it done two months before he turned 60? If you were he, is that what you would have done? If so, I applaud you, although it would have been a really dumb thing to do. Seriously, we've plenty of guys with ailments that are letting them wait for a more opportune time to have them taken care of. Why does this one bother you so much? For FH, it was the perfect time to have his shoulder taken care of. As well, it's also best for the company as it wouldn't have disturbed a training class, or put him with minimum hours, once out of training, and then having to do some sim time to get current again. Just my take.

Posted by FH regarding his injury..
"Sorry, Busboy I have never abused sick leave. Sick leave is only for when sick or injured. Nice try!! In any case pure dumb luck to have that deer jump out and spook the horse I was trying to stay on. The fall hurt, the aftermath of the surgery is worse."
